Hey All, Anyone handled the New RAM Flipper Hawk??? I saw this New Design (new for me anyway :o) and noticed it's become available at Knife Center. I want to drop the cash to grab one, before that I'd like some feedback, if any on this design. Thanks for listening ...Take Good Care and Be Safe Always.

God Bless :)

I just got mine in yesterday, and it is awesome!! The flipper is very smooth and fast, and the lock is solid easy to use. It fits very nice in the hand, and can be held in a couple different ways very comfortably. I say go for it, it is definitely a knife worth having. Plus, its a Kershaw so you can't go wrong:D

Oh yeah, and if you search through this forum, offsetlover did an excellent review of this knife, which is what convinced me to buy one.

I just ordered one from the Knifecenter Wednesday and am curious, also about this knife. I read the review mentioned and believe I will like the knife. Size seem just right for me. Oh, it is a Kershaw and they are making some very fine knives.

I just got my RAM today.... very nice. One thing you should look out for, this knife invites you to open it any of it's 31derful ways. However, some of them may induce dropping and new knife trauma. It took me about 30 whole seconds to drop it right on its butt . Blargh, oh well now that the cherry has been popped into my pocket it shall go.

ill let you know next week. got an email from mary beth today that NGK got them in. and like a true member of these forums, i checked my bank accounts and credit card due dates and gave her a call......next week shall be lucrative for them, s60v blur coming and a ram :)))))

Here's a link to offsetlovers review of the RAM for ya Rook.
He has some pics as well. Take into consideration those are Jolly Green Giant
hands he has. ;)

yup, it looks pretty small in my mitts too, but it still works great.

amazing knife, doubtlessly my favorite manual folder ever.

Its a great knife. you won't be sorry. Its very smooth whether you hold the lock back or not. Adding to the smoothness is the fact there is no liner lock to rub the side of the blade as it opens.

It took me about 30 seconds to get a proper feel for using the flipper to open it without getting my thumb in the way of the lock. At first I thought it would be much better if the lock was more forward than it is. However, after about 30 seconds of practice I am convinced those designers knew what they were doing and put it in the best place possible.

I was also a little concerned at first that it did not have any safety lock to keep the blade from deploying accidentally. I don't think it will need it. The lock mechanism applies a small amount of pressure when closed to keep it closed. That pressure holding it closed also means that opening the knife requires you to build up a bit (not much) of force so that by the time the blade begins to move out its sure to have enough behind it to open up fully and lock very crisply.

I have medium to large hands and it feels good to hold. I also like the finger choil for choking up on the blade and the texture on the back of the knife to keep your thumb from slipping.

the clip is mounted further to the end of the handle than some of my other knives so it rides just a bit lower in the pocket. Its a little wider than some but not too wide for the front pocket. Another A+ blade from Kershaw.

I've edc'd my RAM for over a week now and I like it more and more every day. I'm getting used to keeping my thumb off the lock release button. If you don't the blade feels like it is locked.
The blade opens VERY smoothly it feels like it has speed safe when I flip it open. Which is just plain fun to do !
This knife cut's very well. I use it to cut open those blister packages at work for customers, and I have had comments on how easily my knife cuts that bullet proof plastic. I also cut zip ties shrink wrap cardboard plastic bags. No problem. This knife Needs Work too ! (I have one of those also)
It has a great blade shape, very functional, very usable. RECOMMENDED!

One thing though, I like to carry in my back pocket but the G10 under the clip makes it difficult to insert and draw the knife.
Can the G10 be smoothed out just in the area under the clip, so the knife slides in and out a little easier? Anybody ever done this ?

You can lightly sand the G10 by hand to smooth out a small spot. G10 dust/particles is not something you want to breathe in so do the work in an appropriate location. It's not like you'd be making very much of it in this case, but still, better safe....

I just got my Ram and WOW it is great. Smooth as silk and SSSHHAARPP!!!!! I love this knife. Man, Kershaw keeps making them better and bestest(not sure that is a word) knives. Slices wood great. Can't wait to really try it out. The blade is perfectly centered and fits my large hand great. Thanks Kershaw for another fine knife.

Oh know, not another knife I have to have. I would like to have a try at that sliding lock. I just got the ZT301, just let me beat it up some.

I haven't seen it for sale on the internet stores (except Knifecenter).

I hope to get mine in a few days. Problem is, I just got a tanto Groove that I'm playing with, & that replaced a regular Groove. If Kershaw keeps this up, I won't be EDCing a knife much longer than 1-2 weeks.

As to the pocket clip/G-10 issue, I "tweaked" the clip on both of my Grooves, so that it was easier to get the knife in/out of my pocket. The clip on the RAM looks just like the Groove's, so it'll probably need the same amount of tweaking. Just bend the clip enough so there's a little daylight between it & the G-10. I just used my finger, pulled back & held it for a bit & it was perfect. No need to inhale any G-10 particles or smooth anything out.

Add another to the "I just got my RAM" list. Man this thing sweeeeet!!
It opens like a rocket. It fits my small/medium hands perfect. I love the
finger choil and the feel of choking up on the blade. I think I've found a
new fav EDC. Thanks Kershaw/G&G Hawk for a fantastic knife.

If your thinking of getting one....DON'T think, just GET IT!!

And to quote Offsetlover.."Does this knife live up to the hype?"
You bet your sweet @$$ it does!!

Where are you guys gettin em!?!?

I haven't been able to find one in stock yet, despite lots of searching.

Thanks for the tips :) on the clip/G10 issue I'll try bending the clip slightly first, if that doesnt work I'll give it a light sanding below the clip. Outdoors. ;)

Enjoy your RAM's !!

I just ordered my RAM from NGK:thumbup:

I'm looking forward to this one..it has alot of my favorite qualities...it's a manual, 3"blade, choil and g10 scales. There doesn't appear to be alot to dislike about this knife:D

Just got my RAM today and it is so addictive. i am pleasantly surprised by the smaller than expected size. i can't wait to master the open and close using only the lock and not the flipper.
