Just recieved a Kershaw R.A.M and man this knife is awesome. I find myself flipping it opened and closed while sitting in my easy chair or when just thinking:rolleyes. Anyone else have this knife and find their self doing this. What are your thoughts on this knife, and show em if you gottem.

this is one of my all time favorite knives to EDC. i play with it all the time. it is the best flipper knife i own...and i own many.

Carrying mine again after a few month hiatus and I love it. In fact I have another one on the way, just in case anything happens to this one.

The only mod I'd like on the regular RAM is a larger lock button, since I often slip off of it while trying to close the knife or I have to use my thumbnail.

No folder opens as satisfyingly as a RAM :)

it should be as legendary as the minigrip or the native. However, I bought a MUDD and since then, I never carry the RAM, so off it goes.

But it nonetheless experiences my full endorsement.

Good to see all the endorsements. I tried out a RAM in House Of Knives but I got distracted and bought a Benchmade 940 instead. It's still on the list of to buy knives.

The only thing I didn't really like was the mini thumb studs. I found them very uncomfortable. I think Kershaw would be better off removing them all together.

I can open the knife almost as fast using those tiny thumbstuds as using the flipper. Love the RAM!

I went with a 943, too. It's a lot of fun to flip with the axis lock. Maybe I should look at the RAM, since it has a similar operation...

I just wish the RAM had a fully ambidextrous lock. I cant think how to have that and a flipper though...

I could design one that wouldn't interfere with the flipper. But I have no problem opening and closing my ram in either hand.

Mine sits in the drawer of 'What should have been a good purchase.' I have to consciously move my thumb away from the lock button inorder to use the flipper. For my hands, that dog won't hunt. :(

It'd be really easy to place the button on the spine of the knife, or anywhere really. My alternative design is much stronger since it would use a plate on both sides of the knife for locking.

And if you like the design but hate that button placement, try to get a MUDD. the lock is where an axis lock would be. (almost)

That would make much more sense.

It looks like it's in the same place, but relative to your grip, it's much higher on the knife. It's a much nicer knife than the RAM.

Funny you mention this, I just picked up Kershaw RAM (RED Blem) and I was doing this same thing while watching TV this passed weekend. You don't even realize your doing it after a spell..

And this is why I'm a big fan of G&GH. Their knives are so unique and so fun to use. Generally they're a good value too--even their custom stuff.

For me, there's Ken Onion and there's G&GH and everyone else is at least one step down in design.
