i was just wandering if fallkniven F1 rubber handles are removable? and if there are the standard holes in the tang, so u would be able to make your own custom handle for it?
and if anybody has done this?

You can remove the rubber handle but the tang on a production f1 isnt the same as the blanks you can get. The tang of an f1 with the handle removed is just a narrow, straight piece of metal with 1 hole at the end (lanyard) I think. An f1 blank is wider, has some contouring, and has holes for mounting the scales. Unless you're trying to fix an f1 with a messed up handle, you'd be better off going with fotobaerchi's suggestion and just getting a blank imo.

You have to pretty much cut away the rubber handle with a band saw (that's what I used) and after that it's like doing a handle job to a stick tang blade. Very do-able if that's all you have to work with.
Like the guys up above say, full tang is the way to go.

awesome dude!! thanks for the pics!!

how did u get the handles off so cleanly?
cut thermorun handle up or down(i used another Fallkniven for that,U2) separate it from tang with some flexible blade, then remove hollow pin,-it was quite easy and clean

but working with full tang is much easier(for me)

nice work!! thanks for the info... could u drill two holes in the tang if u wanted to?..... i am new to moding fix blade tangs so if this is a dumb question i apologize

Not a dumb question at all as some tangs are hardened, and some are not......but I don't know about the F1's.

slowly with carbide drills and cooling ,also it can be done with carbide burr in a dremel tool

but the tang is alot smaller so i guess u probably wouldn't want to make a two sided handle right?

i contacted fallkniven and they told me that the handles were hardened and that i could easily use strong glue to make a handle.. very fast response by them.

I made hidden tang handles on S1 and A1,tight fit holes and glued with two-part Epoxy ,(I'm using JB Weld and Hysol, but most of epoxy s will do fine..)
WM1 is made with blank (full tang)
you can buy Fallkniven blanks for A1,F1,S1,H1 and WM1 and they are all full tangs, but price is more or less like finished models
