It appears the Capt Phil of the Cornelia Marie (The Deadliest Catch)
passed away today after a massive stroke. I
have been in rough seas but the Seas he sailed
are mind bending big! A brave man and able Capt.
RIP Capt Phil

Didn't he have a heart attack on the show? I remember he was in the hospital, and turned his boat over to his first mate. He was, above all else, a family man, and a decent guy. I hope that's what they say about me when I go.

David, he had a pulmonary embolism and nearly cashed in then. He was luck to be alive. I wonder if the stroke that ended up killing him was related to emoblism?

Tough guy, he was. He was fun to watch on the show. I read that he was at one time the youngest person to captain a fishing boat on the Bearing Sea.

He got ahold of me thru a mutual friend to get one of my knives last year...helluva guy to say the least....said he was going to keep it between the seats of his Corvette....that cracked me up..

Yea I hated to hear this also. I really liked watching him try to make his youngest into a fisherman. His oldest just seemed to pick it up eaisly. Wonder if the Cornelia Marie will be on the show this year? If it is it will be interesting to see who is at her helm.
Back to Phil tho, you kinda gotta see it coming when you smoke 3 packs of cigs a day and drink a case of Red Bulls to keep yourself going on a 36 hour run.
