Anyone who read the book and or saw the HBO mini-series Band of Brothers knows who Dick Winters is. A WWII veteran and decorated hero.

I had the privilege of meeting Dick Winters a couple of times and very much enjoyed the conversation. A true loss.

Oh man.....

This is heart breaking news. Dick Winters was a great, great man and the world will be a lesser place without him.

Rest in peace Sir.

Prayers for his family, friends and "brothers".

I saw that news. We have only a handful of those heros left now. My Mom served in WW II, she is 94 now. My Dad has been gone for many years......

My deepest condolences to the Winters family, his friends and those he served with.

His life serves as an example for all of us.

There was a strength in that generation that i don't see anymore.Mr Winters was a shinning example of that strength.

Let us not forget Jack Crawford.
He got alzheimers and the last two years of his life were a never ending D-Day.
He was there and refused to tell me about it while he was sane.
It came out with the alzheimers.
I truly don't know how he exited the war and managed to be the best influence that I've ever had.

Jack taught me how to hunt. He taught me that there is no bad scenario. He taught me how to behave when other people were not behaving.
He brought up the standards of any situation.
Jack knew I was going to play with the table saw even though I promised I wouldn't, and magically appeared just in time to pull me off of the board that was sucking me into the saw.
Jack taught us to deal with death and move on.
Miss you Jack... hope you're in a better place.

Sorry if this is possibly hijacking your thread.
I just want to make sure nobody is forgotten.

Jack sounds like a great man but yes...you're hijacking the thread.
