Norman Borlaug was an agronomist who was determined to save people from famine. To a large degree, he succeeded. He is responsible for saving several hundreds of millions of lives from death by starvation. Through his intelligence and his ceaseless efforts, he helped humanity more than anyone else who's ever lived.

He was my hero, and a big influence for me.

He will be missed.

I agree that the world owe's him a huge thank-you. Some experts have figured out he is responsible for saving over 1 billion humans from starvation. Quite a feat. RIP... smoke and prayers for your journey.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. When all is said and done, to help feed the world is one of the truest essentials (BTW, the International Rice Research Institute [IRRI] is located here in my country). A great man indeed. Godspeed to him as well.

It's always bittersweet when we lose one of our heroes. Though we mourn their passing we are forced to remember the good they have done in the world and this is not a bad thing. I don't know who he was but I suspect he was a good man.

Norman Boralug was a man whose dedication to science and humanity made it possible to feed literally hundreds of millions of people. His contribution to the world cannot be overstated. In addition, his humility and modesty were legendary.

He will be missed, but he lives on in his work, and all who benefit from it.
