I had a very minor problem with one of my Kozuka sheaths and returned it to R.J. He sent me a new one right away. This Kozuka has a straight spine and a nicely curved, non- "tanto" point. I carry and use it every day. Nothing else will do. I have to say that I've enjoyed working with this knife more then any other knife I've owned. I'm not exactly sure what it is about it that makes it so very satisfying to use (aside from the obvious factors like great steel, edge geometry, and ergonomics). I think it must be as Mr. Martin sez: it feels lively in the hand like no other knife I've used. Great knife and carry system. Thanks R.J.

Too true Rick. I've got a Kozuka that I find myself carrying more and more. It just disappears on your body and you forget you're carrying it until you need it. Besides looking great its one of the most solid feeling blades I've ever held. Dealing with Mr. Martin is a pleasure as well.

RJ Martin not only makes a great knife but is a pleasure to work with.

My 6" kozuka has been my daily carry longer than any other knife I own...a day in the kitchen without it is like having one arm!

Rick, I have the same exact model Kozuka hanging around my neck as I type this. Love that knife. Thanks to ChefGet RJ is also making me a longer model for the kitchen.

Does anyone know what is up with RJ's website? I have not been able to access it for several days.

I just asked RJ about his site. It should be back up by the end of this week.

I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, Babe, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride.

Guys: Thanks for the ego boost!! I love it when people say they carry my knives daily! That is why I make them. Just a question: What is your favorite way to carry the KOZUKA?
As to the website, I am having my ISP put me on a better server, so I can have added functionality. I am hoping to have the "old" site back up by weeks end, as Brian indicated. Does anyone know what the hit counter value was whan the site stopped working? I think it was around 15K.

Thanks, RJ

I also carry a #2 Kozuka most days. This is definitely my favorite knife. My preferred method of carry is clipped upside-down to the armhole of a vest. Same effect as having a shoulder rig without having to deal with all the strap nonsense.

Depending on what I'm wearing, I either carry my Kozuka inverted clipped to my waistband behind my hip bone, or as RJ suggested, I use the neck sheath with a short cord attached in my front pocket. The cord is just long enough to reach a belt loop and has a small, spring-loaded clasp on the end. When you draw the knife, the sheath follows it until it reaches the end of its leash, then out comes the blade. It's even faster then an auto folder.

In the custom-made "pocket sheath" RJ came up with so the kozuka could be carried in the right front pocket, under the apron.

After a while the staff started to get used to me producing a blade in the same time it takes to raise a hand!

I like how the magnetic sheath holds the knife anywhere I want it (on metal of course) inside my truck. When I get home I stick it on my refrigerator. Always there in the kitchen for immediate use!
