Went to the Chesapeake Show yesterday - nice show but could use more room! Met some fellow BF members & had a great time. Picked up a small Stag-handled bird/trout knife from P. J. Tomes - one of my favorite makers & a really super individual. Les, I hope you read this - I really enjoyed meeting & talking with you & thank you so much for trading the Herron for the WASABI - I really liked the Herron but I'm thrilled to death with the WASABI - especially the Bat Menuki. That knife is awesome & defines the meaning of SHARP!!! I hadn't had the knife home an hour before it was blooded - I was cleaning the blade prior to putting a coat of Ren. wax on it and got careless - it cut through two layers of heavy cotton towel & took a chunk out of my thumb(very small chunk but drew blood). Now that is sharp! I thought I was protected by two layers of towel - NOT!!! R. J.- if you read this - I got the 6" one & I can't begin to describe how much I like it - though fairly heavy it handles beautifully & as described above it cuts well.
Needless to say yesterday was great! Damon, hope you get a Carson soon!

Penguin,

It was nice to meet you and the other Bladeforum members at the knife show. You do have a few nice knives and I am jealous. You are following Japanese tradition by letting your blade taste blood when you unsheath it.

I am still looking for the right Carson and I hope I get one soon, too!

Cheers

RJ Martin's knives are the sharpest I have ever experienced. Period.

Damon; I have a small model 4, black G10 scales that I'm about to send back to Mr. Carson for cleaning/tightening. Let me know if this is what you might be interested in!

Michael,

At the show I saw a medium Carson Model 4 with a Stellite blade. I would have bought it, if it had been for sale.

I am sending you an email.

Thanks,
Damon

Hi Guys,

Yea that medium model 4, Stellite blade, all the other parts titanium (even the screws), green linen micarta scales. Incredible knife.

That Wasabi wasn't bad either!

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

Les,

That Carson was shhh-weet! The only thing that would have made it better would be that it was a small model 16 with carbon fiber scales and 6K and TI construction. Now that would be very Vanguard.

Cheers,
Damon
