Anyone have any experience with these knives? They are sold by Ben's Backwoods and described as being carbon steel and pretty much the same as once sold by Herter's years ago.

I'm happy with mine.
Decent knife for a low price.

(I modded the handle on the fillet)

I picked up a canadian belt knife style - not comparable to the original as far as finish and detail but it has the essential features of a CBK and for the price a very serviceable knife. I now keep it with my other kitchen knives and it's my 1st choice for trimming meat on the chopping board (rather than a boner or utility. Steel is softer than I prefer but very easy to sharpen

There is no connection between R. Murphy and the late David Murphy of Oregon. R. Murphy is a long time maker of industrial knives that once had a side-line making blades for Herter, the old mail order sporting goods company.
