Hello Guys! I'm sharing some pics of the first class in my Cutlery School, last week. These are the first knives of these boys. I make the prototype, and they follow me.
Hope you enjoy it.
Here's the knife they had to make:

Thanks for looking.

That is awesome Rodrigo, and it looks like they learned well and had a fantastic teacher to learn from!!

Holy crap - you're NOT telling me these were the first knives your students made, are you?

Bravo.

Rodrigo,

Exceptionally professional looking facility, very good methodology, and by the looks of the results, the best outcomes of any intro class I've seen. Your school appears much like your knives, outstanding!

John

Talented teacher, talented students. Thank you for teaching finger guard and soldering. Some, even on this forum, believe it is not necessary to solder. I am a collector, and won't buy a knife without solder.

Very cool class! I plan to attend once my day job permits.

Any way... I noticed something on the corner of a picture:

Is that an integral damascus dagger?

Something nice is cooking...

:D

What a wonderful idea, Rodrigo!

I would like to contribute something to your school, so, when
I get the first copies of Tim Hancock's book, I shall send you
a copy of his book and one of Edmund Davidson's, the first two
books in my new series.

Maybe I'll add to them a copy of "The Art of Custom Knifemaking",
where your students may enjoy your first exposure in the world
of custom knifemaking... :)

Send me your full mailing address...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Hello Guys! Thank's for the kind comments as always!
John, I'm glad you noted the facility, I was very concerned about that. My Idea for the School was an environment where the students has all they need to work: their own forge, anvil, grinder, and workstation, with all tools. Nobody needs to wait in the line to use anything... The school will also work as a supply, where they can buy steel, handle materials, tools, grinders, books...
I'll also sell their knives trough my website, so they'll have all the support!
I live in a rent house, so I don't have all the space I'd like to have, but I tried to make the best. The classes are limmited to 3 students, and I'll have basic classes, intermediary level 1 and 2, and advanced classes.
here are some pics of the workshop:

By the way;
Jeff: the integral dagger on the wall was the reason why I did'nt made the test for MS last year... I had one flaw, and I did'nt had the time to make another dagger... so bye bye MS!

WOW DAVID! That's super! My students already have some of your books to read on the library/coffeshop of the school, and your books was the first thing that came to my mind when I started to plan which books to sell trough the school... Your donation is very welcome! Thank you very much!

Very nice and organized shop/classroom Rodrigo.
Judging from the student's finished pieces you are an excellent teacher.

That is a great school Rodrigo. Congratulations to you is well deserved. I really like the wood on the knives, and they look well made.

Peter

Congratulations Rodrigo. It looks like the students had an excellent instructor. Really nice shop layout and setup. It is too clean though:).
Great looking knives and very impressive. Good work.

I think it's my favourite thread in recent memory. This really brings a smile to my face:)

Good for you, Rodrigo:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

And good on you David. You're such a generous gentleman.

Hi Rodrigo,

I second all the comments : your initiative sounds great !

One of the knives hanging on the wall looks like a "petit nouveau"... Am I wrong ?

Hello Guys! Thank you for the support.
Patrick: Yes, that's your knife! It would be finished this week, if I had'nt got 5 stitches in my arm last week... My school is so complete that I gave them a demonstration on shop accidents...:p
I had some muscle damage, but I'm recovering pretty well... Almost cured already.

Now that's what I call a dedicated teacher. ;) :D

Rodrigo, what is the duration of the course and what prior experience and/or expertise if any is required for admission?

Rodrigo, that is absolutely awesome! Having someone with your talent with those kinds of tools available from the start will surely help those new knifemakers off to a blazingly fast start!
