What the heck is an r2? I see one listed for sale, but I've never seen the model or description.

It is almost like a big Q model. It has the handle and blade cutouts. There are plans to release a non-cutout version of the R coming soon.

The R2 "Sprint" is scheduled for delivery July-August.

the Almite truss-work handle remains, but gray. Looks like titanium.

I'm sorry to say (to you ) we added a Boye dent.

The blade is VG-10, full flat grind with a tip more like the Pacific salt. No cut-outs in the blade. This one's a user. The finger choil has been enlarged.

I recall asking back then that they'd release this pattern without the cutouts. Would have been an awesome EDC -- basically an Almite Calypso. Too bad it never happened. :(

Well Carlos, I'm totally psyched up for this one! I am just so glad that its getting a reprise and will have a solid blade that I can live with the almite trusswork handle. Heck, I even promised Sal I would not to b&#ch and moan about the Boye dent. I believe that, even with the cutouts in the handle, it will be a totally awesome EDC. In my opinion, they may very well add to it's utility, as they certainly will provide more traction and purchase while opening than flat almite would.

Given the full flat grind, this one will probably chase the Stretch (that has pretty much become my full-time EDC) out of my pocket. I am so excited over this one, I may drive to Virginia and camp out on NGK's doorstep when I hear they are ready to ship! :D

If you really hate the trusswork, considering that the handle is pretty thin and quite light, theres always the option of adding thin CF overlays. Dragonplate has some stuff that would add hardly any bulk to it. Damn, now I need 3, one for go, one for show, and one to tinker with.
