Ok here are a few blades I plan on getting some dirt on and decided to ask you W&SS members which you would like to see the most get worked out and what sorta skills do with it.

I had a Charles May, I'm a little biased ;). While the bird and trout might be a little small for everything in the woods, I have developed a true appreciation for the utility of small fixed blades. With big paws, I have gotten a lot of work out of my Blind Horse boat tail scandi, Gossman PSK and Gossman micro Kephart.

Either Parrish, just because they are so awesome! Those are two that I am really jealous of.

I really like the Camp Witch...looks like a great blade! I'm trying to get out more to get some dirt time with the new Hoodlum!

I'll take my Randall #14 over the others. Holds an edge, handles the tasks, works great as a defensive blade.

I voted for the Attack, my buddy has one that I have coveted for a long time now, I just want to see one get used. He also has a model 3 that I have fallen in love with. I gotta do a sheath for his model 26 PF soon also. Beat that Randall a little. Moose

i would love to see a good review on the Case trapperlock.

I have been carrying an actual slippie for almost a year now and would like to see other opinions of a traditional pocket knife from people around here. I know many have a SAK but they are more robust in construction.

The TOPS Hoodlum would be interesting, IMO. Seems more 'available' perhaps. Don't know the price on it, sometimes TOPS prices themselves out of the field. I like the Hoodlum platform though.

Your list of blades are ALL OK. I use mostly Randall Made knives, but Dozier is a favorite too. One thing to look for in a custom or high end knife, is a soldered hilt. It requires skill that most makers lack and I consider that feature critical in Florida. Any of my knifes without it, have rust inside the hilt next to the blade. Only time till they fail. Maybe it will take a life time so why worry? :-) I just feel if you have a special blade, try for the best you can afford.

I voted for the Randall 15 because the blade reminds me so much of the 1-6...one of my favorite knives. But I do hope I'm around when you give the 18 a work out, I've always wondered how their hollow handle would hold up to real use.

I was in Ecuador with a couple of ODA teams; one of the team guys had a #18 and really used it much harder than I probably would have and it held up quite well. It had already looked like it had been abused on several field problems and was still going strong...made a believer out of me!

Thanks Rock, one of the guys that taught me a lot of what I know carried a 1-6 and let me use it some. I've never gotten to see how the handle of the 18 was mated to the blade so I've always wondered how one would do. The blade looks vicious and I like that :)

I voted Fehrman Extreme Judgement. Because I would really like to read an extensive review of this blade. I'm tempted to get one due to the 3V steel but just don't find hardly any reviews on the blade.

I voted for the Condor being that I can afford one of those! And have been wanting one for sometime now.

Well I stepped in on the Case Trapper lock
I use a Case trapper for skinning critters from my trapline.Actually I use 2 and drop one when the edge gets used and pick up the other.Touching up both way later
For me I find this a very useful pattern
Like to see it put through the paces from you
(never had seen the locking pattern before)
Thanks
Dan'l

I have the Case Trapper Lock and I think the CV is an awesome steel. I also think that the quality of Case knives have improved immensely in the last couple years (at least IMHO). Anything other than Case CV I would probably pass, but I think it's one of the best steels on the market for production knives.

It's been some time since I've used it, but after seeing this thread I may yank it out and give it some pocket time.

I would love to see a hands-on review of the Condor Parang. I'm interested in that particular machete (and of the list is probably the only one I can afford), but never handled one and don't know its strengths and uses. I would love a review of one put through hard use and some attempted delicate work... and a lot of pictures, of course. :D
