I have a dirtbike that need high octain, at the motorcycle dealership they sell race gas for 14.00 a gal. The airport near my house sells airplane gas for 5.00 a gal. Both have high octain. The dealer trys to say their gas has special additives. Anyone know anything about this?

Not sure about aviation fuel, but make sure that your bike can run with leaded fuel, as race gas almost always is leaded.

Aviation Gas is currently 100 Octane and known as "low lead". This is in reference to it's former guise as 100/130 octane. It still has a lot of lead in the mix.

There is no point using higher octane gas unless your bike engine is set up to take advantage of it with higher compression ,advanced timing etc. My 919 makes the same power on regular as high test even though it is fuel injected and can advance or retard the timing a bit. Unless you have a drag bike set up for race gas all you are doing is buying really expensive gas that can harm your bike.
