I finally got back in the shop last week, I've been busy with other things and had to put my knife making on hold for a couple weeks. I finished up this radial mosaic dagger today, blade, guard, spacers and pommel are all made from the same damascus, with a african blackwood handle. Oal- 11 1/2" w/ 6 3/4" blade.

Thanks for lookin, and happy holidays. be sure and check out the close up picture, it really shows the beauty of the steel.

That awsome Bill,

I thought blackwood was black. I didnt realize it had that much figure. Beautiful package.

 Ho Humm...another beauty Bill. Sure wish you would screw one up once in a while so we would know you were human!:D ;)

Like Bruce said, you have it nailed.....

Beautiful Knife!

Wowsers Bill, that is gorgeous!
What is that design in the handle made with?
How did you get the angles on the grinds like that?
That is really an amazing knife!!!

Bill, that is such a sweet dagger! I'm a big dagger fan myself, and that style really does it for me. Wonderful work, brother! WONDERFUL!

That is one fine knife. I really like the flow and the use of the same steel throughout the knife. Plain, simple, and very elegant, nothing to detract from the knife and the craftmanship.

Thanks everyone.

Bruce B. thanks buddy, I really like the radials. They have like Ken said " a simple and elegant" look. No fancy frills or designs just a beautiful piece of steel.

Mark, all the african blackwood I have is brown and black. Gaboon ebony is more black, but I've found its not near as stabile as blackwood.

Peter, believe me, I screw up way more then most and I have never seen a perfect anything so I guess I'm doing alright. Beam me up scotty, I wish. :D

6, the design is made from little tiny N/S .025 wire, its a bear to work with, I found out quickly that the tiny drill bits break real easy and magnifiers are a must, but they look nice. Ken Durham showed us some of his knives done with it at Ron Claiborne's hammer-in, He does beauiful work. As for the grinds, I just started grinding and took my time to get what I was looking for. I'm not a speed grinder anyway, most can grind 3 or 4 blades to my 1. But I don't care how long it takes if I can get it to come out close to what I had in mine.

Happy Holidays Everyone,

Bill

I am sitting here admiring the blade while my girlfriend sits over my shoulder and says, "So, why don't you make knives like that?"

Thanks. :D ;)

That is an absolute beauty!

I got a birthday coming up you know. :D

Pesky little suckers, them #72 bits, eh??

"Two thumbs up", my friend!

.025, yikes!! And I thought .055 bits that I use for detents in my blades were small, whew!
Grinding speed might be my problem.
I just screwed up two more blades and what really hurts is they were for my first two autos.
I had the lock bars and everything set up just right and then messed up the simplest part of the whole deal, the stinkin grind!
I don't know whats wrong with me. I haven't ground a blade right for eons.
I've messed up 5 bowies, a batch of neck knives, and a three folder blades in a row.
Guess it's back to the jig for a while till I figure out whats wrong!
