Back in January, everything was right with the world. On my long morning commutes, I would listen to the Sports Junkies, a local morning show that was extremely good. They were in DC on 99.1fm. I also listened to Loveline with Adam Corolla and Dr Drew, their calls made Whine and Cheese look sane. I listened to some regular and syndicated shows throughout the day. Such as Don and Mike, GG Liddy, Tom Marr, Bruce Elliott, Dr Dean Edell. Well, lo and behold, 99.1 turned into an all latin station, the Junks moved a VA station, and now I sit through Howard and his morning parrots, hoping to find something entertaining. Some of Howards wack pack are funny, like Beetlejuice and Gary the Retard, but other than that, his show pretty much reeks. I don't care if a beautiful woman just took her clothes off, I can't see that on the radio. Unfortunately, there isn't really much else on during the morning rush hour. Yeah, I know about satellite, can't afford that right now, and my cd player just quit working on me. I listen to a local rock station in the afternoons on my way home, called 98 Rock, their DJ's are pretty dull though.

I need some talk radio in the mornings, and theres nothing out there. To all the PA, MD, DE and VA guys and gals out there, please help!

There are some mildly entertaining shows in B'more, but not much in the mornings.

For some reason, my am is wacky. I can pick up stations in Texas, Ontario, but have a hard time picking up stations in B'more. If that's a Maine station, I'll probably be able to get it. Are you in Maine or Oregon?

I listen to "public" radio stations exclusively; NPR for news and such, the local community station KDHX for various music programs.

Here in St. Louis, we have "classic" rock and pop, with a smattering of "easy listening" on FM.
AM seems entirely taken over by religious broadcasting, one wierd talk-format station, and the local dinosaur station that carries the ball games.

I do listen to public radio sometimes, mainly for the jazz in the evenings. 88.1 fm for those in Balmer ;). Marc Steiner is entertaining sometimes, when he has the right guest and is in the right mood, but other than that, NPR is too biased. A lot of the college stations have some good music laced in with the goofy out there music. Nenofury, 89.7 has blues every Monday night. NOthing good for the drive time though. I'll check out that DC station site. Thanks for the info.

Also, if I am right outside the studio, I can get the Harford Community College station, they have an American Indian (or native American if you prefer) hour, with some good music, but it doesn't hold a candle to the experience you get at a powwow.

There isn't much good on AM/FM anymore, that's why I broke down and subscribed to Sirius.

If Beetlejuice and Gary the Retard get their own shows on the Howard Stern channel, I might get Sirius. Other than that, I didn't see anything stellar on their listings. Am I missing anything?

I never was into HFS or DC101, I listen to 98 Rock instead. They've got a great morning show. Mickey and Amelia have some good stuff during the afternoon, listen for the News at 6 (or around that time). Stash comes on after 7 or something and doesn't BS much, a nice change from having too much talk and not enough music. Mandatory Metallica at 9 just kicks ass.

I don't really care for the three fat bastards in the morning, although Lopez is entertaining sometimes. Sometimes I listen to them. As for Mickey and Amelia, well. Mickey tries. Sometimes he's good, sometimes he's bad. As for Stash's evening show, I always listen to that whenever I work late, Metallica is mandatory on the commercial free segment, which is fine with me! Stash always has some good music, a couple of times I've sat in my truck in the driveway listening to him spinnin'.

Not much, but it is commericial free. I'll be getting Sirius when Stern moves.

Oh man...thanks for the trip down memory lane. Mandatory Metallica was great -- wish they had it here!

Nothing good on shortwave either unless you like those evangelical stations beaming so S America or something. About the only station I bother to listen to is the local university which plays some classical on FM

Uhggg, They're not airing Lovelines here anymore... That was the best thing to listen to after a long day, before going to sleep. :D

You think you have it bad! What about the small radio markets like Charleson SC! Heck 1/4 of the FM stations are Religious, and for some reason the radios inside my house pick up a religious station instead of the local NPR station on the same Frequency!?

Up untill last week I listened to CDs on the way to work every morning and the rock stations on the way home. I don't really like John Boy & Billy or any of the other morning shows. I just wanted to listen to some music to get the day started. I had seen the ads for XM radio but didn't give it much thought. Who in the right mind would pay for radio....right? But all that changed last week. I traded in my Chevy Silverado for a Honda Ridgeline that came with 3 months of free XM. OMG!!! I really like XM!!!!!! It says it commercal free which is almost true. I keep hearing a commercal for On Star on the Disney Channel (believe it or not Disney jams sometimes :D ). I listen to a lot of different kinds of music so I've been bouncing all over the dial.

When my wife and I where looking at it I told her that it wasn't something that I'd be interested in, which was true at the time. Now I've got to tell her that I've change my mind.

Saturday night we were hit with a monster G5 solar flare .At one point I could only get 3 AM broadcast stations and the amateur bands were totally gone and still in very bad shape this morning .This big solar flare can have many effects on communications .Has anyone with satellite radio experienced problems ??
