Radio Shack Diamond sharpener? (Diamond rod)

It looks pretty small, but the price is low. I think that Walmart has a similar product in that price range.

I have what looks like the same thing but mine is an EZ-LAP and I paid $8 for it at a gunshow.
It is the tapered model that does regular and serrated blades. Sorry, I haven't used it yet but it does fit nicely into the side pocket of my Leatherman Charge sheath.

I've kept one of those around for years, also an EZ-Lap. Light-weight, sturdy, good pocket clip. It's good for cleaning up an edge and it's really made for fish hooks, so it's probably done more fillet knives than any others :)

Definitely not a heavy duty sharpener. Definitely worth the price. It will touch up a small slipjoint or SAK nicely.

As an amateur radio operator I wouldn't buy anything from Radio Shack !!...Eze-lap has a large assortment of diamond sharpeners ,you should check out their website. I've had their 4" rod for many years and most of my sharpening is done with it. Just a few light strokes and the knife is sharp ! Don't bear down hard with a diamond it will remove LOTS of metal. They can sharpen anything even things like carbide drill bits .It's a good investment.

Mete, how hard is it to get the HAM ticket? I saw the sharpener today, it feels....shoddy

There are different levels of amateur radio licenses .There are lots of things to learn and exams to take but things have gotten easier. And you can do many things with it . For example I'm trying something different saturday. We are having an automobile rally here in Sullivan county, racing through the back roads .Thirty hams will be doing all the communications for the race !! Check www.arrl.org for more info about licenses.
