that looks great, humm how does one get tritium and how much does it cost?

Hi Guldan.
I always enjoy your work.
but this one looks like something i could try out. okay so about tritium. firstly how does one extract it from the key chain? is it in liquid form?
well after that, how is it inserted into the knife? what about leakage? the tritium keychain makes sure that it is sealed welll and well.
thanks

That turned out great! I love that.

Now you have me thinking I could do this which will only end in tears and pain. ;)

marcus: tritium is second isotope of hydrogenium. it's gas closed in glass "bottle". this glass is quite strong (i had droped it from first floor down to the garage, and i does nothing). radioactivity is very low, so it's quite safe.

to take the glass with tritium i used clamp ;) but while destroying acrylic stuff around the tritium i had to be very gently (it's like with virgin ;)).

i like that you like it. i'm going to make folding knife with blue tritium inside. it will be something special (anyway, this week i'll show my first folding knife!!!).

If anyone in America think they could do this properly I'd be willing to send my knife off to you with some money to have it done.

akan529: i have a friend in Pittsburgh who probably can put tritium inside your knife, and make other things you want. and he is good in customizing knives.

if you're interested, i'll ask him about contact with you.

Oh so the tritium is never removed from the glass... ok thanks for the info. looking forward to see more of your work

Guldan , I like what you did to the handle of your knife as much as I like the tritium.
Good idea and good work :)

[Mr. Burns] Eeeeexcellent[/Mr. Burns]
nice custom job Guldan, very impressive

i'd love to get some tritium glow-rings and other stuff, but the stupid U.S. government [sarcasm]in their *infinite* "wisdom" [/sarcasm] has decreed the stuff "dangerous" and not to be sold in the U.S.

i mean it's not like i'd be cracking open the glowrings and drinking/inhaling the contents (mmmm....radioactivity....) i just like cool....glowy....things [drool....] ;)

I didn't know Tritium was considered dangerous and somehow limited by the US Government. I have guns with Tritium encased sights and they are legal.

Sulaco, if I remember right tritium is mildly radioactive, and it's probably limited by the government because IIRC it can be used as a booster agent in the production of fission/fusion type nuclear weapons. Not the sort of thing you want running around in large quantities in an age when nuclear materials are increasingly easy to get ahold of. Guldan, that's an awesome modification. What knife did you use, it looks sort of like the handle of one of Trident's knives.
