Anybody have any experience with these knives? Ragnar sells them, for about thirty dollars each. They seem very practical, and I like the designs, particulary the birds head one and the one with the knob handle of the French design.

Thanks awfully.

Never have held one of these but have always gotten my money's worth from Ragnar. I expect you could count on getting your money's worth and more from the trade knives.

Well to give you an idea... I've bought 4 of them now. My favorite knife, hands down, out of everything I own is the TR-RB in the first picture. They're made by a guy here in Oregon, River Trader Knives. I chatted with him a little at the OKCA show in April.

If I'm not mistaken, they're all 1095 with a fairly thin blade. Makes them pretty good slicers. And if it helps any, as I say I have 4 of them now and I will no doubt buy more in the future.

I have one like the TR-FL that I bought at a mountain-man rendezvous back in the 1980s. The blade on mine is a tad thinner than a Mora Clipper. I don't know who made mine, no makers mark but probably the same person mentioned above. Good kitchen knife, great slicer. With a sheath, I think it would make a good camp knife if you don't mind the thin blade.

one of my buddies has one, very sharp, great slicer, but doesn't fill my hand the way i would like. and i don't have big hands so be aware that the handles are just rounded wood, very simple and very thin.
