I purchased this little axe from Ragnar of Ragweed forge at the Pennsic wars this week. He had a great pavilion set up with all his wares. This thing is of the viking period with about a 20" handle and of course the semi bearded shape to the head. Cutting edge is about 4.5" long and you can see the temper gradient for lack of a better description as it is kind of like a rainbow, back from the cutting edge to the haft on the head. Extremely well done and not only that but it rings very melodiously when struck with stone or steel. Never had that happen before to any blade I have owne.

Did I mention it was sharp? It will cleanly shave hair or paper with a nicely brightened edge. Happy as a pig in poop. Easily splits well aged hickory and silver maple. He is also a very good person to deal with.

If no one has been to the Pennsic war spnosored by the SCA you owe it to yourselves to go. Quite a celebration of medival living. Keep'em sharp

Not sure which one longbow has, but you can see some great stuff on Ragnar's site (the axe page):

Ragweed Forge

I haven't picked up an axe from Ragnar, but I have picked up several knives, and I will say he's absolutely awesome to work with, with very fast service and responses.
