This is a custom order I just finished up. The gentleman drew up the specs on this knife that he wanted to use to clear brush. I think it will work.;)

This bowie is 12" total length. The blade is 5160, edge quenched x3, tempered x3. The blade dementions are 7 1/2" Long, 2 1/2" Wide, 3/8" Thick). The oval guard is also 5160. The blade, guard and tang are Tool Blacked. The handle is black micarta with stainless steel screws. Tess did a post sheath for this one. What a monster.

Yeah, it's definately not the type of knife I normally make but, when he sent me the specs and drawing of what he wanted, I figured I'd give it a go. I was pretty happy with it, overall. If I don't try new stuff, I'll never learn right?

Nice, the whole package goes quite well together.
I'll bet your customer is quite happy with it.
Congrats to all involved.
Regards,
Greg

Very nice J did you have any trouble with the silver solder when you blacked it? I remember your post about it.

Interesting . . . looks tough as nails too. Definitely a functional beauty, but still very cool.

That is a gnarly looking beast! It looks like a stout bulldog of a knife, I like it!

Thanks guys.

Heatride: I ended up redoing the guard and using JB Weld. It came out real clean.

Sweany: You were close...2 lbs., 3 oz. This fella's gotta be strong.:D

J. Neilson, that looks like one strong SOB. Could probably double as a "necker" for Paul Bunyon. Good job!

Bill

2lb 3oz- not as heavy as I thought it would be. I guessed around 2.5lbs. Ive used a knife that weighed around 4 once, not too bad once you get used to it. Thanks for taking on my project J;it looks better each time I see it!

All the Best!

Hey Leo,
I was waiting for you to pop in. It's on it's way and it should do exactly what you want. Can't wait to hear back on it. Thank you for letting me at it.
;)

Good lord, that's looks more like a sharpened shovel than a knife!:p looks like it ought to cut through most brush without a problem, not to mention trees, and if needed it could pry rail track back into alianment!

Great job, she looks fantastic, realy super duty!

Leo -
After you clean out all the brush in Rahway, how about visiting my town!:D That is a heavy duty cuttin' tool. Will we see it at the next meeting?

Whats up Gary, Yes I do plan to bring it to the next meeting. I cant wait to see that Bowie you just got as well.

All the Best!
