I was wondering if any forum members would share their opinions of Raid Ops knives? On the website they appear to be well made.

Hey Guys...

Hey PBJ...

Don't know about the knives,, but the Wild Duck is pretty cool. I recently did some work to one...

Well made, nicely rounded edges..No sharp spots on it what so ever...

Nicely made all the way around...
although the hole was a little small....

i have a bunch of raid ops knives and they are very well made. no trick photography here. the knives really do look that good in person. i would categorize it like a strider or trident. good stuff

Peter, welcome to Bladeforums!

It's best to start a new thread for a new question, not jump in on someone else's unrelated topic. You will see a button marked New Thread towards the upper left of the page.

In this case, you want to ask at The Bernard Levine Knife Collecting and Identification Forum where we do knife ID. Before you do post there, though, read the instructions in the Sticky: READ THIS FIRST! How to ask questions that get answered.

Madfast, How are they price-wise? Same prices as for a Busse?

the knives go for about 200-300. i would say a bit cheaper than strider and trident. something to consider however is that his biggest knife, by law over there, is about 5" blade length. so most of his knives are "small". no gigantic chunks of steel choppers. also keep in mind that kim is in korea, so he imports S30V or Bohler D2 and then has to ship it to the states, etc. i can't say that they're inexpensive but IMO you do get a lot for the buck if you compare it to "overpriced" knives like striders.

the knives also come with a VERY HIGH quality LCG gear Kydex sheath and tek-lok. if people can pay 350 for a strider with just paracord for a handle, then people should give raidops a try.

Madfast,

Thanks for all your information. I'm aware that Raid Ops knives aren't 9 inch choppers. I've concluded that a 4.5 -5.5inch fixed blade is all that I need. it's all a matter of which one.

Now it's a toss up between Raid Ops and Bark River!

Is the owner away, because i emailed the owner 2 days ago and he has not responded back yet. anyone know the status of the website or prices. take care

for what use? like my Trident TCFM 02, the raidops knives are THICK knives. ok not as thick as the trident which looks to be a tad OVER 1/4" thick, but they're still "thick" at 1/4" thick. also like the trident, they use a deep hollow grind. this makes them very tough for lateral bending like prying, but for slicing they're not as good obviously. i see these knives as true "tactical knives". they are meant to be used and abused but don't expect them to be super duper sharp and slice like a cutting comp knife. the geometry of thick stock, deep hollow grind, and thickish edge make them working knives. i don't have edge angle numbers. they feel sharp but no where near my caly 3, manix, street beat, etc.

on the other hand bark river makes an INCREDIBLE product. if you like tactical style knives BRKT just came out with the Bravo-1 their most tactical knife to date (except the Evo-1 of course). A2, 0.215" thick, sharp convex edge. recipe for awesomeness... i have mine on order as we speak :D

i'd say just be a little more patient with him. besides the like 12 hr time difference, i'm sure he's busy. last time i corresponded with him he says business has been picking up and it's a small operation over there. if he doesn't answer in like a week, then try again?

Mad, You're reading my mind.:D

The Bravo-1 is the other candidate that I'm considering for a survival knife to stick in my daypack. A user review described the Bravo-1 as being no kitchen knife but a fine survival blade.

I have 4 raid ops knives now ranging from his smallest to biggest size and I couldn't be happier. The craftsmanship is outstanding. The customer service is second to none. I actually want to be friends with Kim that's how nice he is. Haha and these knives come hair popping sharp. And from south Korea I've gotten the knives in less time than within the states. I can't say enough about them.

I have a Delta Bunker and it's machined perfectly... I know it's not a knife but it's really cool. BTW Kim at raidops is a vary nice guy, If you have any questions about any thing he will respond fast. He even entertained the idea of custom modifying his product to my specs.

i've got a custom fixed blade with a 4.75" drop point blade. 1/4" thick and a true beast, but totally useable. one of my favorite pieces. i've got over 30 striders and a number of crusader forge/trident knives. my raidops is my go to if i'm camping or hunting. it's a user and an amazing knife.

Are they considered custom or production knives? I noticed one was listed recently in the customs for sale section
