i want to thank Kim of RaidOps for sending along a prototype. I was able to help Kim out and was pleasantly surprised to find this item in a package from Kim a couple of days ago.
Kim sent along a prototype of his latest Black Tiger knife that was made for a European dealer. the knife is a little longer than Kim's other small knives at 7.25" with a blade length of 3.2". the steel is S30V. my Black Eagle has a unique blade shape in that it is more of a utility shape rather than a clip point. Kim's sharpening abilities has improved greatly, and this edge will shave hair... it's scary sharp! the handle is also a bit thinner than Kim's other smaller knives. Kim is using micarta on this model for scales and feels great in the hand. it is a bit smooth, but not too slick.
RaidOps European Black Tiger:
my Black Tiger prototype doesn't have the same cosmetic features as the European model, such as the scalloping on the flats of the blade and along the underside of the handle. it does have the 'jimping' on the spine of the blade though.
the kydex sheath is well made and comes with a Bladetech clip. it will also hold a Surefire E1 flashlight.
here's a pic of my small RaidOps knives as a comparison:
with Kim being a part time knife maker, he sure is pumping out a lot of knives lately. i'm lucky to call him friend!
