Wow! i just got a package from raidops (www.raidops.com) and a big  for their blades!

i got the custom "vulcan" model, the flying tiger, and a catboy. the handles are very comfy with the "trident" grooves. the grinds were awesome and the tang/handle fit and finish were amazing. definitely high quality stuff. blades came sharp and pointy and the 1/4" thickness would give a strider or trident a run for it's money. super stout blades. oh and the balance is right at the index finger.

the LCG gear kydex is some of the best i've ever handled. it even came with a very high quality mini carabiner. very cool. i use it to attach to my jean's belt loop so in horizontal cross draw carry i don't have to use my thumb to "push off" the kydex to deploy the knife. i can just pull it out and the carabiner will keep the teklok from sliding along the belt. not really sure if that's why they come with a mini carabiner but this is what i use it for :D

i really have to single out the catboy as my favorite. it is truly a fixed blade i can EDC in the city. at 5 3/4" OAL, 2.5" blade, and 1/4" thick Bohler D2, it is small enough for city edc yet stout enough for anything i can throw at it.

overall great stuff. you strider/trident guys really ought to give it a try. shipping from overseas was superfast and it got thru NYC customs fine so i doubt it'll give anybody problems. kim is also great to deal with. highly recommended!

for general pics go to raidops.com and lcggear.com. i would never take pics better than that so i won't even try :o

I went looking on the Raidops site. They have some very industrial looking knives! I DO like the looks of the Catboy.

I wonder what is the purpose of the grooves on the side of the blade.

i think they're there just to look cool. sorry, no controlled blood splatter here:D

the handles are grooved and that is also conveyed on the blade. pretty cool looking. definitely unique.

i have to say. in this overly populated mall ninja tactical knives market, raidops has found their unique "look". yeah grooved or carved handles are nothing new but he also grooved the blade. cool. the handle profile is angular, boxy, yet has some flowing lines and is very comfy in hand. plus not all the handles are grooved. i have one with a rather boxy, polygonal grind to the slabs but is aslo very comfy.

Yes they got some cool knives:cool:
And congrats on your new toys!

Glad to hear it. I don't think the knifeworld is ready to handle one more Dark-Ops. :barf:
Anyway I like some of their knives and nice to see they use M2 steel in some models, but aren't those grooves stress risers?

I'm also curious about the prices. I tried to email Kim about it a month or so back and it didn't go through.

the grooves are very superficial. not sure if that's the right word. but you can see them from the side/profile of the knife, and feel them of course, but if you look down from the top of the spine to see how deep they go you really can't see them unless you really look hard. i guess from the pics they look prominent but they're really super shallow. don't think they'll cause any problems.

I have one on the way, the flying tiger, blade 3", should be able to take anywere and M2 is the steel which i really like in my BM. those two qualitys are what hooked me. Can't wait.

thanks agin madfast for your imput
