Railroad track bolts for forging.

I have plenty of railroad spikes and leaf springs for forging, but someone recently gave me some railroad track bolts. Has anyone on here forged anything out of them? Supposedly, they are made out of high strength steel.

High strength does not necessarily mean high carbon and hardenability. I suspect they are something like schedule 8 bolts. Forge them into snakes and dragons.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I’ll try a spark test to see what happens.

They should be 40-50 points of carbon.
