I am looking for a light rain jacket which is durable. Something which has an attached hood is preferred. Below 100 USD would be superb. Any pointers?

Check out the Marmot Precip.

Also
Mountain Hardwear Epic
and
Patagonia Rain Shadow
Arc`teryx Alpha SL (way outta my price range!)

Prices are up there, but its quality gear.
I get my patagonia stuff when they have the end of season sales...
usually 30-60% off

I picked one of these up a few months ago and it's pretty good. Check Campmor for their variety.
It fits perfectly with my Marmot Cauldron Hoody which is a full zipper super light-weight winter jacket. Toronto winters are cold and it was all I really needed. I used the Precip as an outer layer when there was snow.

I use a trench coat and a shamagh as you can imagine I'm quite a scary sight for most people

I'm always recommending this jacket. I've had one for over four years and just bought a second one. First one's still doing great, btw.

You can sometimes get them on sale... REI-outlet.com is closing them out at $70

I had an REI Elements for years. Worked great until I washed it.
I like the North Face rain shells, but I settled on a Patagonia.
Either one can be had under $100 on sale.

Eddie Bauer has pretty decent stuff - especially when you can find them on clearance.
I have o0ne of their 360 parka shells for my raincoat and picked it up off a clearance rack for around $60 a couple years ago.

The Marmot Precip is hard to beat. It's the #1 jacket for specialty outdoor stores. With all the features that it has, not to mention the color selection and cost, there really is nothing else like it.

I personally can't stand the feeling of a two layer jacket against my skin when the inside is moist (think plastic), but a decent three layer jacket starts at around three times as much, assuming full retail.

As was mentioned in a post above, The North Face makes two lightweight options within your price range, the Resolve and the Venture. The Venture retails for $99 and is worth every red cent, i've had mine for 5 years and its been through hell and back with me. The Resolve is a tad heavier, and will cost about $89 depending on where you buy. The main selling points for the venture is the Hyvent DT, which stands for DryTouch. The exterior of the jacket is totally dry after about 5 minutes of being out of the rain. Its unreal how well it works. No more putting on a soggy jacket. The Venture is super light, and it has pit zips, which are great for venting. Huge slash pockets on the front, and itll pack up really small. I've use mine as a pillow backpacking before. In order to get North Face quality out of Columbia, You have to get into their Titanium line, which can get rather expensive. There is no floating mesh liner in the Venture, to cut down on weight. The mesh has actually been pressed into the waterproof membrane. The Venture has a floating mesh liner, and to be honest it acts as a bit of insulation on a sultry southern day. (I live in South Carolina). You'll be hard pressed to do better than a Venture in your price range. As far as pure, unadulterated quality goes, Arc'teryx has no equal. Hope that helped.

I don't know the price but Columbia jackets are excellent . I was at an outdoor event with rain all day and the fellow with me had a Columbia and was very happy with it , It kept him very dry.

I'm looking for a lightweight rain jacket for upcoming rains too... What do You guys think about Cabela's PacLite Rainy River Parka ?

It is now on sale for only 89.99... It looks like a decent price for GoreTex Paclite... Have anyone any experience with this jacket?

Another option is North Face Meru or Diurnal jackets that can be found for about $150.0 on evilBay

Any other suggestions in a price range between $100-$150?

Any of the jackets listed in this thread should be good.

Just noticed your European,
Helly Hansen and Mammut makes some fine gear too
Should be easy to get over there.

+1 for Helly Hansen. I wear a Helly rain suit every time it rains on the oil rig I work on and it holds up perfectly fine.
