I had the chance to do a weekend trip with some old friends. One guy I hadn?t seen in almost ten years, while the other old friend and I had hiked all the highest peaks in Southern California, including Mt Whitney. This trip was more a ?hang? than a bush trip. We stayed at Owl Camp, complete with a fire pit and swing set, yes, swing set. We made this our base camp and did day hikes out of the established camp.
We started it off correctly!

Owl Camp

Huge Joshua Tree

The canyon trail is really just a wash
There was sign of water here recently

The canyon walls slowly squeeze us?

The cave?

At night?we cooked it up and turned in.

The wind was horrible and I thought I was going to see their tents fly off to Oz.

I was fine in my bivy.

Tools
I used the pipe hawk to split up out fire wood

My friend has used the same SAK for about 7 years?sharpened it zero times!

Morning Pork

Rainbow Basin
