Hey guys, new to the forums, but I have a few Kershaw knives and one ZT. I am having some difficulty with my brand new rainbow leek--The torsion bar seems sluggish and whenever I close the blade, it rubs against the handle opposite of the frame lock. I don't really care that much about the rubbing, but is there anything I can do make my leek whip out faster? I've already opened/closed it 500+ times...
Thanks,
KAG

You could try loosening the pivot screw just a hair.

With 2 issues though you might want to talk to customer service about sending it in for some tuning...

Welcome to the forums! :)

If you live close to Eugene , I will fix it for you, otherwise you should send it in.

I tried that, but it made the rubbing even worse. Thanks for your offer Dave, but I'm 2 hours north of you. I guess I'll drive to Tualitin once I get a chance.
Thanks everyone.

It sounds like the torsion bar may have slipped into a weird area in the handle where it grinds away part of the topside liner and handle close to the pivot and slows down the SpeedSafe opening (and in my case also causing a grinding feeling when opening and closing).

I have one Leek that did this and ended up removing the SpeedSafe torsion bar, making it a manual. I like it that way, so I haven't decided yet if I'm going to send it in for repair.

On mine, all the screws were loose, the pivot screw and handle screws, which probably caused the problem. I don't think mine came this way from the Kershaw factory and blame the online seller, even though it was supposedly a new knife...has a Jan 08 date, and the box and contents were all in order. Mine also had an excess amount of grease forced into every possible cavity in the handle...someone had to have had it apart after it left the factory.

Anyway, I'm sure Kershaw will take care of it for you.

Ray :)
