Woke early this morning to pouring rain, went to vote, and then went for a ride through the misty mountains in the cold autumn rain with a lot of old memories playing on the big screen in my mind. The rain slowed to a heavy mist and it looked like a good time for a walk through the woods and find a place to sit and think in peace.

Wandering along a shelf I wandered my way back to one of my favorite small streams . Sitting there by a largish pool, the melody of all the small falls above and below me trickling into leaf littered pools was zen like. The only thing missing was a crackling fire to warm by. I had easy tinder laying around in the area, just needed a fire pit to vector the warming heat where I wanted it.

Of course the wet wood produced a lot of steam at first.

Great pics! It was wet and hazy east of you as well.

great pics as usual Brian.. looks like a nice spot to chill by the fire.. i am digging that T.M. Hunt knife too.. :)

Great looking knife. I'm so much happier when knives are simple knife shaped objects devoid of frippery. That looks like a cross between a kitchen knife and a German trench knife. Ideal...........Gonna go out on a limb now: If member here Jack Black is who he purports to be, and my memory serves correctly, he designed and had something exactly like that made up 20 odd years ago [save the extended tang]. I thought it was one of the best looking designs around at the time. Mind you, when one recalls the zeitgeist competition was far from strong.

Excellent pictures, thanks for sharing. They do bring across the mood and what you were doing nicely. I like the knife, like a utilitarian bushcrafter/ camp knife, also nice with the extended tang/ pommel.

I also like the Exotac, it's the titanium no?

We currently have whether EXACTLY like this here atm, so I am gonna go out and do something similar (minus the fire sadly).

Outstanding!
A lot of people bemoan the gray wet weather we've had recently but some reason I like it. It's very contemplative.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, that's just the way it goes here this time of year, but it's my favorite time of year, I really love autumn!

Thanks Mike. Yeah that little pool on the shelf is one of my favorite little zen gardens. Oh and me too, very much so.

Thanks man. I have no idea who he purports to be...I miss a lot of things around here...but yes I agree. I did a post a few years back using my kitchen set to demonstrate how many urbanites have a collection of tools useful for bushcraft sitting right on their kitchen counters. I decided then that I would love to have a knife similar to my paring knife but heavier built and better ergonomics and a tang extension for some of my other knife uses. I really like this design, have since I first got to try one out months ago.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed them. The knife is like kitchen meets bushcraft meets survival. I've used it in the kitchen a good bit, and whittled with it quite a bit. Yesterday it got it's first scratches in the patina from batonning. It's as near perfect for my needs as I have run across yet.

Thank you. I know what you mean. A lot of people here see it as dreary but I am happiest when I am out wandering in the fog and mist.

Found the thread, was the spine sharp enough to strike with? That's a crazy looking slug. I'm jealous, after I voted I still had to go to work!

Looks like a very therapeudic day. As always, great post, great pics, great fire, and id like to say great knife, but don't want to come across as cocky! ;) As far as baldtaco, I would be interested in seeing said knife. I was not making knives 20 years ago. As far as this design. I strictly made it for my tastes and for what I wanted in a knife. I have been fortunate that other poeple agree with what I like.

Sorry, forgot to respond to this earlier. Yes it is the Ti version of the nano. I've had it almost three years now and it goes where I go.

Well no, not really...but the nano has it's own striker...or weren't you paying attention :p > I was trying to get some work done, but with all I have been dealing with I have been having trouble focusing...

Thanks for the fire Mist.

Glad you enjoyed it Hawkeye.

Nice set of pics... most of the places locally here in SoCal are dry

We just went through an unusually long dry spell, about two weeks, but it has been back to normal and raining the past three days.

Beautiful spot and great pictures, thanks for sharing!

Thank you, glad you enjoyed the post!

I have been working too much lately. I needed this little escape. Thank you.

I know the feeling. I've escaped vicariously through more than one of the posts of others on this forum, glad I could help and glad you enjoyed it.

Indeed it was a therapeutic day, and I agree very much with what you like.

Wonderful pics as usual. It hasn't rained here in a while, at least a decent amount. However the day I am most looking forward to (Monday) it looks like it will be raining. (I have had a lot of luck hunting on Nov. 12th)
