Auntie just notified me that Raj kumar is in somewhat of a tough spot, as you all know he left to work with is uncle as a jeweler about two years ago, this was across the country from HI, and he could not work for both at the same time.

well long story short , kumar is not getting the money he deserves, and wants to come back to work for HI, as business is starting to really pick up , and they can afford to take him back-- auntie is working on finding some old raj kumar stock to sell in this thread to generate some funds, but if you can donate 10 or 15 bucks, maybe more maybe less, whatever you can.

lets try to bring Raj Kumar back to HI, get this man some cash to move his family back to the bir gorkha factory, and put one of the true greats back in circulation.

thanks everyone. post up if you have any positive things to say about Raj Kumar's work in the past, anything you own that was done by him, and a small donation would be much appreciated-- offerings to follow.

Please post anything you can offer to benefit the kami in this time of need, after reading about landslide and danger for thamar and lok kami-- this is not just about raj kumar, we need to help out if we are able. I will be posting one of my raj kumar blades for sale in this thread, money to be paid to HI , i will send the blade to whomever wants it-- I encourage anyone who can to do the same!-- some antique khukuri may also appear, so stay tuned for some interesting benefit sales!

If you are interested in any of these items, please post here, then we will get organized in PM, once payment has been sent to auntie, object will be sent to buyer, this is all to benefit kami and help get raj kumar and his family moved back to bir gorkha

Raj Kumar is an artist with steel. That man came up with lots if new designs, some practical, some fantastic, all gorgeous. I've put a few of his blades through their paces and they have some of the best edges I've ever used, he knows how to make a scary sharp knife. Not to mention he had a knack for making the Everest Katanas that we haven't seen in some time.

Huge asset to the HI team, yeah we should get him back!

Anything to get Rajkumar back.

He did my engraved Dragon SMAK and it is a work of art, seriously!

A Rajkaumr Katana is definitely on my "want" list.

Count me in to do what ever I can. I'm below poor at the moment but I have a few Rajkumar blades and they don't call him the Prince for nothing.

Auntie I know was quite fond of him and his abilities, he's good, real good.

Big thank you Gehazi for helping out and starting this thread. I'll do what I can to help.

I had made an offer to auntie to help get Rajkumar back sooner, but she says that there are some expenses, which are a little pricey.

She suggests small donations, and purchasing Rajkumar products that she has in stock.

If we can, we should purchase any Rajkumar offerings on DOTD, and add a small donation to help get Rajkumar back to HI.

Small donations sent to auntie, and commenting that it goes to help Rajkumar, I am sure it will be helpful in getting him back to HI, and making spectacular knives.

Excellent idea. I'll drop a check in the mail tomorrow. Thanks.

This fine blade is up for grabs out of my personal collection, my first piece by raj kumar when I came to HI after being away more than a decade. It was accidentally sent to me but I paid for it anyway because I liked it so much, and bought the other one too :D-- So i feel it appropriate that I put this up for sale to benefit the man who made it and his family. All proceeds and payments to be confirmed by auntie , upon which I will send this fine blade to you, shipping on me.

First come first serve -- weight is 21.3 ounces ( give or take) length is roughly 20 inches; the karda and chakma are extra fine, I really like the karda, almost needle point, I am offering this perfect condition as new blade (I dont know if this was a blem or not, there is a small gap at buttcap and some grain in the horn handle, otherwise perfect) for 85 dollars minimum donation to raj kumar/thamar/ lok kami general medical fund.

I will be putting up a few old tourist pieces for 20 or 30 bucks in the next few days as well, to see if we can't raise some money!

Rajkumar made all the knives and swords in the photos below (previously posted by HairahSitna). His creativity and skills are amazing. He's also a family man. I recall that his wife would knit colorful mittens and socks that Yangdu would put up for sale here, as a way to earn some extra money for their kids education.

Sorry to hear he is in a bad situation. Let's bring him back. Thanks to Gehazi for "passing around the hat", and offering some of his knives to raise some funds. Hmm... That's got me thinking...

These are most of my blades made my Rajkumar. Only one is not in the pic - another Hanuman special that is at my shop. His work speaks for itself.

I never even knew he left two years ago....seems his knives still pop up all the time. I even had some customs made by him just a little less than two years ago. Are we talking about the same kami that uses the "two hills" mark?

If so he is by far my favorite Kami. His edges are always perfect and wicked sharp, has the smallest, cleanest chos and always has excellently shaped handles. I'll gladly throw in some money to bring him back if he is indeed gone as I think he is a superior craftsman.

Same fella and you speak the truth. Very superior craftsman for sure.

I have no money to offer but I have this.

And like Mr. Tall said it's got me to thinking. Only thinking so far..................this is gonna really hurt bad.

lol i refuse to let you get rid of that bawanna, I am doing plenty of sales :D with the other donations we should be fine :D please dont vacate your collection of such a fine piece

It would help Raj and thamar and them alot. I'll try to think of a plan B. I want to help.

lets see how close we can get to our goal before we go getting rid of family heirlooms sir

This unused knife of mine is up for grabs, as a fundraiser to help bring back Rajkumar (and/or for the kami medical fund). The first "I'll take it" followed by confirmation from Yangdu that she received the donation, will get it from me (not from HI) via priority mail.

KLVUK Ang Khola by Keshar Lal (aka Kesar Lal)
Overall Length: 16-1/2"
Weight: 24 ounces
Satisal wood handle.

There were only a couple KLVUKs made in the Ang Khola style. The blade thickness is 3/8" at the bolster, increasing to 7/16" at the bend/peak.

The handle was notably small for my XXL hands, so I wrapped it with paracord for more girth:

I'm not crazy about the paracord, however, so I would recommend this knife for someone with average size (or smaller) hands, to use without paracord. This was sold as a blem because the handle had a crack, which proved to be minor and was easily fixed. The knife is very sharp and unused, with the handle already finished with numerous applications of linseed oil. (These KLVUK khukuris come without a sheath.)

Besides being a rare KLVUK Ang Khola, this is also one of the few khukuris that Keshar Lal marked with Bura's mark, the crescent (with Bura's permission and supervision):

A while back Keshar Lal returned to work at HI. Master Kami Bura gave
him an idea about a special knife and gave Keshar his crescent moon
sign logo. Now Keshar puts his crescent moon logo and his initial on all
the blades he makes.

Bura visited the shop to give advice on the knives, but he is not making
knives now. He is supervising the production on the Villager Utility Knives
that Keshar Lal is creating...

Minimum Donation: $85 includes shipping by priority mail (to US address).
If you're the first to post an "I'll take the KLVUK" in this thread, then you can claim it by sending your donation to Yangdu (with a note mentioning "Steve Tall KLVUK/Rajkumar fund").

UPDATE: The knife was sent to philllll, who bumped up the minimum donation significantly! Thanks!

OHHHH NOOO you dont mister, you put that right back where it was, or me and Dog are coming to thump on ya!!!!!
How about you do some checkering as you did before and have the fine folks send payment to Auntie?? Worked before brother

I think we need cash faster than that. I can actually relate to the need for cash quick thing.

I'll continue to ponder but the checkering deal still stands. Anybody here need that I'm your man. Don't like to make money from friends ya know. Maybe that's why I need cash???? Might be a parable in here somewhere.
