I don't know why Cold Steel is closing them out, but the venerable zombie killer has, itself, been placed on the chopping block.

I bought my Rajah II for about a hundred bucks, and except for the rough blade finish and the grivory handle, it is a fine folder, and strong -- just as strong as its more beautiful twin, the Rajah 1.

Since CS is apparently re-releasing many of its older models with the Tri-Ad lock system, the company likely feels it no longer can sustain the Rajah 1, which sports a polished blade, aluminum head and G10 scales, for $339. At any rate, I've been waiting for a good price and, frankly, never thought it would happen. But now the closeout price is so good that I bought three of them!

After buying the Spartan for $59, I found many things I liked and many more things I didn't like. Opening and closing the Spartan was a chore, particularly the latter. After carrying it for a day I had had quite enough. If CS's new knives have reinforced handles and Tri-Ad locks, I don't hold much hope for them. Strength, while important, reaches a point of diminishing returns, and though I like the shape of the knife handles, I don't want heavier, bulkier knives, overall, especially ones with stiff springs.

The Rajahs were always an exception. Strong enough for camping and hiking, and easy to carry in the city and robust enough to cut back vines in the yard, it's a pity that it's on the way out. Perhaps something else will replace it, who knows? I got my Rajah Is for about a hundred each, which is about what I paid for my Rahah II. The former is much more nicely finished, though. Can't wait to hear the reviews of the new Gunsites and Recon-1s. I hope the Voyagers aren't reissued with steel liners!

Yeah, I picked up a Rajah I and a Black rhino for myself the other day. I don't really know what I'll ever use the rajah for but I've always loved kukri blades So, I had to pick one up. It seems like it could be used pretty hard and still hold up, that is, if the Tri-ad lock is as strong as cold steel claims.

I just bought the new style Recon1 with the triad lock and it is very smooth to open and close, smoother at least and easier than the other triad locks I have owned from CS. Sharpest knife by far I have ever owned too and that is saying something. I bought the Rhino from the closeout. I owned a previous Rhino and liked it enough that when I sold it I regretted it and now they are pretty cheap too so scarfed one. keepem sharp

AF - pm sent. I picked up a Black Sable for myself. Had my eye on one for a few years!

I bought a Rajah 2 a few months ago and never thought I'd use it, but I find myself carrying it most weekends. I really do like it.

Needless to say I just ordered the Rajah 1:)
Thanks for the heads up

Link removed. Deal spotting is not allowed on BFC. CS does not pay to advertise here.

Super Mod.

This is a Cold Steel website, and specifically their own closeout page.

It takes enormous willpower to resist the Rajah I... I am weak.

I just called and ordered one. Too bad they charge tax in California, but it's still a great price at under $120 shipped.

Holly crap if I had money to spare right now I would be all over that. I wonder if any dealers will be jumping on this and selling them off too.

I nearly ordered a Black Rhino for that low price, then a Spectre, before I came to my senses and remembered I'd just sold off my last CS knife. So, it makes little sense to buy more.:o
