I've decided on getting one of these knives, I just don't know which. However, I'm wondering which one can take more of a beating. I'm not sure I like the wacky JYD clip  or the Rake's Speedsafe.

Does anyone have a comparison pic?

Thanks in advance.

As similar as they look, they are quite different. Here are some pics that hopefully help you out.

And since you didn't say exactly which JYD

Yes, I had my camera and some knives out anyway so no biggie. As for thickness, the Rake is about a millimeter thicker so pretty much they're the same.

Personally, what I did is take a JYD and got it drilled and tapped for tip-up carry with a ZT clip or STR lowrider. :)

I have both. The JYD2 gets the most use now that it is tip up with a ZT clip.

Rake over the JYD-II hands down (I bought both as blems from Kershawguy and sold the JYD-II). I don't use a lot of huge folders though.

Now the original smaller JYD that looks like the Galyean Pro Series small JYD... I looked for months to find a plain edge and finally just snagged one. I'd sell the Rake in a heartbeat before I got rid of this tiny JYD

I haven't used a JYD but have handled them several times. Bought a Rake and love it. Sharp as hell and nice and tough.

I would have bought the JYD if it didn't have that fugly tip down only clip but I will only carry tip up and it seemed like a pita to have it drilled/tapped. The Rake is a badass and holds an edge great for the week of work I put it through so far.

I did end up getting a JYD from Kershaw guy and I love the knife except for the clip. I'm trimming/filing it down so it shouldn't be an issue. I don't see how you could tap it for tip up as the blade doesn't have very good retention. I can flip the knife open without using the flipper. The Rake, however, is next on my list as well as the Ram, Knockout, and Blur.

I don't see how that is an issue as carrying the blade tip up pushes the spine of the blade against the seam of your pant pocket.

I have a composite Rake and love it. Keeps one heck of an edge. Next up is gonna be on of the JYD 2 blades. I kept putting it off because of the clip but I got me one of the smaller JYD's the clip doesnt bother me that much.

Both are great knives, they are not THAT different from each other.

If you buy new, the JYD will be the 2.2 and the composite will not look like the 2.0 JYD above. Different design and not near the contrast.

The JYD is a bit bigger than the Rake, the handle of the JYD fit my large hands better.

What I didn't like about the JYD was the huge clip and the flipper didn't IMO work that great.

The Rake's blade is just superb, but put on what "feels/looks" like a handle coming from a $30 knife, IMO. Would love to see an upgraded handle to such a great blade (half ti frame lock?) :) .

I like the sharkfin design on the 2.2 better, but they don't have any blems of those yet! As I said earlier, I filed down the clip and it looks 100% better now. I'll try to post pics in the next couple days.

Yep, that's one of the ones I forgot to put in the 1st set of pictures. Here's a comparison of the JYD II and 2.2

Pics of the modded clip are here along with the Ram Blem I got from Dave today! Only problem is, i can't find the blem and there's no XXXX on it!

Sorry, I'm not a photographer.
