I met up with Ray Kirk at Spirit of Steel this year and came away with this one. 52100 steel and scary sharp. I think one similar to this won some chopping contest.

It'll see some work this weekend since our deer season starts up. Some folks will be attending a great knifeshow and we will be out looking for the elusive whitetail with the big rack and the conditions are great this year for good bucks.

Great looking knife, Tex. I have a neck knife I bought from Ray, and I love it. When you said "scary sharp," I believe you. Ray Kirk knows how to put an edge on a blade.

I'd want the handle dropped, and I would not want the top swedge, minor alterations. That should cut exceptionally well. I am getting a fully flat ground 10" bowie class blade next year, I think I'll get one from Ray similar to the above with a convex primary grind to explore the differences in detail.

Cliff, I bet Ray will do one for you just like you want it. Ray makes some great blades. I started out with a hunter, then a Wirk, and then got 4 of his neckers. I think I like his knives. lol

Coonskinner, which Raker necker did you get? All of them are nice and scary sharp. I have several of his neckers but have forgot their names. lol

ray is the man!
ive got a joeker (as seen in tactical knives magazine a few months ago :D ) and love it. i carry it every once in a while,as as matter of fact, today. great steel, good grinds, and from a hell of a guy.

Tex, I have the Little Blue 2. It is the little skeletal job. So light you forget you have it on, but what a cutter!
And yes, Maurice, Ray is a super fine guy. A pleasure to do business with.

Great new knife, Tex.

I've been known to carry a Raker or four myself. ;)

This is the first knife I got from Ray and I partly blame him for this obession. lol But, maddog2020 was also partly responsible. He has one similar to this knife and told me about this one being available.

And I was the one that told him. :)

...and his Master's test dagger is taken. Thanks to Blues who introduced us:D

The plot thickens.;)

Now that I think back about this knife, I thought I was out of my mind for giving that much for a knife and compared to prices these days, it wasn't that much. But you know what-I stole this knife. It's funny what a person can learn in 2 years. lol I guess hanging around with all these experts/some things do rub off.

As we get older and pay attention to things, we do learn some
thing. Good friends are precious.
Thanks for the good words and it makes me proud to call you
friends.

Tex, that first knife of Ray's that you got is a real beauty, so is the big camp knife. I'll bet a knife like it did win a chopping contest.
