I got this little Ray Kirk from Brett(bws1975) last week.
San mai blade cedar scales. Only a little fella but cuts big:) & sharp!!
Handle shape & thickness of scales make for a real comfortable grip. Blade shape is very practical too.

Hm, looks like a very nice knife. I haven't seen many knives with cedar scales, although I guess I haven't really looked...how big is the blade on that?

I was guessing you were going to like that one, Mitch. They are nice little knives, no doubt about it.

Congrats, Mitch. Ray makes a great knife. I have several and love 'em all.

Nice catch there. Can't go wrong with a knife from Ray. I'll bet that one is a wicked cutter.

I got to see that knife at the Oklahoma City KGA show. Very nice knife. If I recall correctly Ray said that the wood came from a VERY old cedar tree near his town that was struck by lightning and split. Rather than see the old tree just get burned up he salvaged some wood and you can see the results.

Nice knife and a very nice maker to boot.

Great score Mitch ! I was at Rays house on Saturday, one heck of a good guy !

Thanks:thumbup:
This is the second I've owned by Ray. I had a larger 1 & in a momenent of weakness or stupidity sold it, that was after waiting a year:confused:
Ray is a top bloke.

Blade is 2 1/8"

The cedar is from a 150 year old tree that came down in 95, Thomason can tell us more:)

I've been using it since I got it, cuts like a razor. What I like about Ray's knives they are always built like tanks.
Cheers
Mitch

Congrats on the score Mitch!

You always seem to be showing sweet folders.... this is no exception!

What did you bring home???????.......

Nothing, he hosted a shop tour. There was a leather demonstration, a demonstration on how to sand out a blade to reveal a hamon, and then Ray fired up the forge and power hammer and showed how to make damascus

Would have been a good day. I'ld say what no free samples:( but Ray's knives are so well priced they are already a steal:D
