Ram horn handles maintenance?

Do the ram horn scales on a Busse knife need some kind of maintenance??

I hope some experienced HOG's can enlighten me on this subject

Just a mineral oil bath every so often (like every 6 months or so) --- it MAY not even need that, but I sure wouldn't take any chances.

I have read two different things, one is that they don’t need anything and the other is that no matter what anyone says all natural materials should be oiled on occasion so they don’t dry and crack.

So since a little mineral oil every six months isn’t going to hurt anything that is what I do.
