Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I have the the honor of presenting you all with a brand new model to HI, made by the very talented Ram Lal kami. But before I get to the pictures, a little story/suspense.
After asking Yangdu about another knife that was not in stock, she told me she had a new model that she thought I would like. Pretty much all she said was it was 10", made by Ram Lal, and that it was called an "Itihas" which means "History." I told her to send it, obviously, since she knows a good knife and I couldn't say no to something shiny and new.
Well the mail monkeys took their time but it finally arrived last week. Let me tell you, it's like nothing I've seen before. Aside from the fact that at 10" it weighed in at only 4.04oz, the kami markings were by far the smallest and most intricate I've seen; no bigger than a fingernail. Amazing. And the shape is as breathtaking as the feel. Almost like a Kopis crossed with a khuk? Crazy. Finally after looking at the carving on the handle, the engraving on the blade, and the finish, it struck me just how thin the blade was. Turns out it's not much thicker, if at all, than my Emerson folder that was in my pocket! Probably the thinnest HI I've seen, as well as the lightest for that length. She's razor sharp near the tip, and field sharp throughout. Used it to cut up a pound of bacon and it hardly knew it was there. I'll still touch it up I think.
Alright, enough with the gab. Here's some pics!

Carving on the handle

Index finger for size comparison, fingerprint for your archives ;b

Another angle of my finger. Also the khukuri again
(Ram Lal = leaf mark, add to mental list)

This is why it feels so weightless in hand. I put this pic on Instagram with the caption "Balance is the key to life." Get it? Cuz there's dead flowers in the background...it's artsy. Ok pic..

Here's a shot of the spine compared to my Emerson Scalawag

And since I love her, here's a shot of my newest snake, Kexik, a beautiful and friendly Amazon Tree Boa (Corallus hortulanus) with my sword rack in the background
