I was at the hospital with everyone this morning and all that is known is what Julious Griffith is reporting. He was divorced a while back, his new girl friend woke up and found him blue and called 911. They tried to save him but could not.

Thank you for posting this.

Ram was a genuinely good man with a great heart... immensely kind and a sense of humor and smile that were infectious. He was a superbly talented knife maker whose positive legacy will live on through those that treasure and admire his knives and craftsmanship.

Rest In Peace, brother Ram... Yellowneck Forever.

Renan "Ram" Maramba, 36, of Dallas, TX, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2015. He was born to Guila and Raffy Maramba, November 14, 1978, in Manila, Philippines. Ram lived in Manila from his birth until 1986 when the family moved to Santa Monica, California. Knife making began as a hobby in 2002 under the guidance of veteran knife maker, mentor and friend, Larry Davidson. Ram's fascination with the mechanics, craftsmanship, and aesthetic detail of knives drove his talent and passion to create the beautiful custom knives that were admired throughout the knife community and cherished by his customers. Additionally, Ram's passion for life extended to more pursuits. He trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Carlos Machado, where he was proud to be promoted to advanced belts and went on to become a popular writer for blogs devoted to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). He trained for and completed a half marathon, was an avid gun collector and traveler. He is survived by his mother, Guila, his father Raffy, his step-mother Marsha, his sisters GJ, Gia, Gemm, and Seiko, his brothers Polo, Lawrence, and Tobias, his nieces Anjelica and Sabina, his nephews Craig, Ethan, and Carter, his ex-wife, Dyan, his stepsons Lupe and Luis, his step granddaughter Rebecca, his girlfriend Ivy, his beloved dogs Buddy, Basie, and Bonnie as well as numerous other family members and friends. This is a profound loss for all who knew and loved him. Rest well, Ram.

HIS OBITUARY ^

Damn! I met him a couple of years ago at the big gun/knife show in Dallas. Nice guy. I didn't know he was even that old!!!!

That's a sad thing. I didn't know him, but I'd just started following and admiring his knife designs, and was always very impressed. He went too young, obviously; but he certainly made his mark in the knife community. My condolences to his friends and family.
