Recently, the slipjoint affliction visited my neck of the woods and it turned out to be an epidemic of heretofore unknown proportions. Who knew?

In an attempt to remedy this virulent condition I just took possession of this little gem of a "Dogleg Jack" from the very talented Joel Chamblin.

Stats as follows:

BLADE SIZE: 2 5/8"
TOTAL SIZE: 6 1/4"
CLOSED SIZE: 3 5/8"
BLADE MATERIAL: Stainless CPM-154 Steel
HANDLE: Jig Bone
BOLSTERS: Stainless Steel
LINERS: Stainless Steel
WEIGHT: 3.5 oz.

The fit and finish of this fine knife is an excellent example of why Joel's work has come to be considered amongst the top practitioners of his craft.
May take a little time to work up the courage to slip this little gem in my watch pocket.

Attempting to further assuage the wrath of the slipjoint gods, further antidotes are enroute and eagerly anticipated.

It appears resistance is futile... ;)

Very nice Blues. Those went fast off of that web site. I know someone else who scored one from the same place. Can't wait for my turn on Joel's list later this year.

That is really a pretty, i am looking for such 2-blade-Barlow for a log time.
Are there some more where you got it ? :D
The 2 blades have a half-stop ?
Stefan

Stefan,

No, there are no half stops on this knife.

As far as I know, there are no other knives by this maker on the site except possibly for a couple of upscale pearl pieces.. If you want any information regarding the dealer, just send me a PM and I'll give you the web address.

Thanks, Mike. Yup, I know who the culprit is. I'm guessing he'll show up soon enough and he's more than welcome to share his little beauty with us.

I visited the website where you got that one a 1/2 dozen times are more recently just to drool at that very knife. Glad it went to a fellow BFCer. You done good. The rumor is another BFCer picked up the Chamblin trapper from the same place.

Thanks! Hey Rob, do you still have that P.J. Tomes Scagel (fixed blade) I sent you a ways back? That was a nice one.

Nope, I let it slip away. Looking back, I have let a lot of nice ones slip away. Oh great. Now I getting depressed.;)

But we get to experience more this way, don't you think?

I'm glad to hear the glowing reports on the Chamblin slippies. I bought the Stag Wharncliffe Trapper that one of our own was selling. I can't wait to get my hands on it!

I have a couple of Chamblin knives. Most recently, I asked him to make me a 5-bladed Rogers pattern in black pearl with checkering and pique work. The work was done in a timely fashion, the knife is exquisite, and my interactions with Joel were everything one could ask for. Matter of fact, that knife can hold its own with any of the others that I have.

Why aren't all of my interactions in the real (non-knife) world like this?

I looked at that one several times myself. I'm sure you're going to be very happy with it.

Shaldag, I'd love to see a picture of that five-blade Rogers by Chamblin if you ever get the chance. Sounds awesome.

Peregrin, that's a nice score on that stag trapper.

I thought I'd bring this thread back up to show off the Chamblin Wharncliffe Trapper I was fortunate enough to purchase.

This is a real beauty. At 3 1/8" closed it's the perfect size for my pocket and that's gonna be it's new home.

That's a honey of a knife. I was in contact with the seller several times on that one and nearly pulled the trigger. Congrats on a nice find!
