"Ramblin', scramblin', trying to get my mind untangled. But I never seen nothin' in the whole wide world that give me more trouble than tryin' to love a girl." Jerry Jeff Walker

That's why I love knives. I've scaled my work carry down to the small, but effective Rambler. The phillips driver is a handy tool, so are the scissors and main blade. And while I never cared for one in the past, I've been using a nail file lately. It practically gets lost in the pocket, I even put some paracord on it to make it easier to grab. And of course it isn't threatening, unless you're a screw with a phillips head. Then you should be afraid...very afraid.

I got one on eBay for $2, about a month ago. Great tool selection in a tiny knife. It's on my keychain now, but I need to get a quick detach gizmo, or a keychain pouch for it. Anybody make a pouch like that? Maybe I'll just tie a lanyard as you have.

Big Jerry Jeff here too  .... and Rambler fan. I just got my first about a month or so ago and have been toting it in the watch pocket of my jeans ever since.

As A) someone known to drink bottled beer now and again, and B) someone with kids (i.e. lots of toys to fix, batteries to replace, etc.) that caplifter/phillips driver sure comes in handy. I can't imagine anyone opting for a Classic if they had the choice of the Rambler. Victorinox took an already great product (the Classic) and made it even better, IMHO.

I have a Kydex keyring sheath for my Vic. Classic by On Scene/Tactical, but Normark's ben hard to get hold of lately.

You can also consider http://www.edcknives.com/vcom/product_info.php?cPath=10_86&products_id=526 which I also have, and it is well-made.

I'm with you on the handiness of the phillips. I work in IT and have used the Rambler to remove and replace hard drive's in notebook pc's a few times. So, Rambler for me, but Classic may be suitable for those who don't deal with phillips screws too often. I didn't come from a mechanically gifted family. We had one straight-bladed screwdriver when I was a kid. You held it straight up for a slotted screw and tilted 45 degrees for the rare, occasional phillips screw. So, the Classic is probably fine for the old-timers. ;)

I bought my wife and daughter each a Midnite Manager which adds a pen and a LED, but minus toothpick and tweezers. The wife keeps hers on a lanyard clipped to the inside of her purse. I have to remind her sometimes that she DOES have a nail file though. And a knife. And scissors... :D

Everyone needs a Rambler - the #1/#2 Phillips tends to get quite a workout.
