I have the original set of Rambo knives(1-3) that came out in the early 2000 with the real leather sheaths and certificate of authencity. What I was wondering was if anyone has tried using them and if they are tough enough to use in the field.:D

They are probably just China made wall decoration, I wouldn't expect them to be good for any real work. I would go to a RAT if I wanted a field knife.

The I and II have hollow handles and I would be afraid to use them because of it.
The Rambo III is relatively sturdy, the steel is nothing fancy, not like high end super steels, but you could use it for light work, light chopping and stuff.

I got board just letting mine be a wall hanger, so I sharpened it up and have used it to chop some branches and small trees... worked great! It's very fun to wield that thing!! -But It's not something I would depend on in a real life or death survival situation. -just my oppinion.

sure you could use 'em but for how long???
to begin with the steel type isn't great on those licensed Rambo movie knives.
as the movie knives were custom built handmades, the stock thickness and sawteeth on the reproductions are not similar to the actual handmades.
if anyone is serious about using a "Rambo" movie knife, it would be to get those very handmade knives from the respective custom knife makers; as the UC reproductions were made for movie buff collectors merely for it's movie appeal.

There's a very similar item in customs for sale made by Martin Knives of Texas. I would venture that that would be a good copy to get if you are interested to see just how useful that design really is.

I would be very happy with one just like it but minus the saw back, which I think is there more for looks than utility.
