I did some searching around, but being that I'm pretty dumb about the computer units on kilns I figured I'd ask you all. So what are the benefits of upgrading to the Rampmaster II? Or does the Set-Pro pretty much do everything you need?

Just to keep this one from slipping away I'll keep it going by saying-I am very interested in the answer to this question too. Shouldn't be long now Burchtree :D

I would think that the Rampmaster would have its benifits ...but I have never used either and havent researched this yet. I'd like to hear some input too :D

Hey, if I ever decide to get my Evenheat oven with Rampmaster control out of the box, I'll be glad to answer your question. ;) :D

Burch-

I've been wanting to add an oven to the shop to go along with my salt.

It seems from what I've read, that the digital rampmaster would be a worthwhile upgrade... but that's just theory in my pea-sized brain, I don't know for sure.

Get that bastid Danbo to send you the one that's been on his floor for 2 years. If I lived closer to Belleville, I'd go steal it ;)

I like my Rampmaster II and looking at the new Set Pro (they have changed over to) I would not trade or even entertain the idea. I understand the Rampmaster II now comes at a premium and may become not available from Evenheat. If there is room in the budget get the Rampmaster II.

I have a Rampmaster II. When I purchased my furnace and spoke with Tim Z., I was not convinced that the Setpro had the program segmentation or flexibility that I sought. Evenheat's site was atrocious, lacking detailed information on either the Rampmaster or Setpro. Fortunately, RLinger was willing to share his experiences about the Rampmaster and I was convinced that was the route to go and still am.

I just took a tour of their site and see that things have changed and that there are now detailed manuals for both the Setpro and the Rampmaster. I suspect that Evenheat did not like the fact that a lot of people overlooked the Setpro and chose to upgrade to the Rampmaster. The very fact that they offer their knife making furnaces with the Setpro ensures that it is a more profitable controller for them. They only charged me $100 extra for the Rampmaster, but rumor has it that they do not like doing the upgrade and may not allow it in the future.

A quick comparison of the manuals shows me that the Rampmaster, IMHO, is still a lot more versatile. It can store 6 programs rather than 4 for the Setpro. That alone is probably worth the money to me. Other items that the Rampmaster has are delays and alarms. While the Setpro may have them, they were not obvious in my quick perusal of their documentation.

Bottom line: if I was buying an Evenheat today I would still go with the Rampmaster.
