Here are a couple more. I decided to get a few of mine out that are handled with things that grow out of animal's heads.

I like that Ram!! I hoped to get my Ramy FG today. Maybe tomorrow. I tell you that Ram 112 of yours make me certain that I'll order a FG Ram 112 to match the 110 coming.

Thanks for sharing :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Now that I have seen one I'll be looking for my rare/odd 112 collection...Verrrrry Nice!

Did Buck find an old stock of 3dot blades in the warehouse? I just bought a 3dot too and the paperwork and Black LE box say 2008.

My Rammy don't match as nice as yours Morestag. I'll post a picture later. I really like 440C...can't help it. Was Paul Bos doing heat treating back in the 70s?

Flatlander, *112** are from 1980. I think Paul started about the same time as Leroy 1978 or 79. For Buck was experiementing w/ cryogenics then which would have been at Paul's beckoning. Then about 1980 or 81 they moved to El Chaon and there was a huge outdoor storage tank around back for this purpose. So, Paul had to have been heattreating the 3 dots and perhaps some of the 2 dots. Hope this helps DM

Yes ... interesting about the timing of things with Buck. Believe it or not I know that 3 dots are 1980 production;). Good to hear about Bos. He is a key Buck guy.

I'd like to hear the story on these Limited additions that were apparently put together this year. Along with the Ram there is a Elk horn 3dot LE too. Both 100 knife runs. So were does Buck come up with 200 28 year old blades?

Some of you guys have been to Buck, how do the do inventory? I would think that old parts inventory would have been discovered in the move to Idaho. If so it took a while to use them.

Any thoughts fellas?

I'm so glad Buck is putting out LE's like this.I have to get one of each!Everybody needs some 'bone'....

Flatland, Your correct! I visited w/ Joe H. on this while there and he said some older parts were discovered during the move which is what were seeing appear now making for some great knives. Then some stuff was set aside to be used like this later (ie. now) and some way it got thrown away during the move. Joe could not supervise all his treasures. Just glad he got what he did. DM

Beauty of a knife. I've been outbid on a couple of those lately, so will you guys please quit running up the bids and let me get one at a reasonable (cheap) price? :)

I'd gotten my heart set on a Texas Star but I got a look and one today and think I'd rather have one of these.

When we moved the warranty department up here to Idaho, all its inventory went with it. But once we got to Idaho, we discovered that our new shop was a bit smaller and we needed to slim down on the old parts we were hanging on to.
I got rid of things I knew we did not need. 10,000 lug springs from the Buck Tool? I saved a couple hundred....decisions like that were easy.
200 3 dot 112 blades? No, we are not tossing those! No way! And so it went. Those 200 blades gave us the 112 elk and 112 Ram horn special run.
I found 100 vintage 500 Duke blades for the 500 Buffalo project.
There were also quite a few Mother of Pearl inlays from the 507 so we made a run of 505 stamped 507's.
The 110 with bg-42 blades came about when we found that tray of 250blades. (I have no idea how they got lost in the first place but that is another story) I wanted it to be a special knife so, considering a project Larry Oden has talked about, I found some g-10 sides from one of the Strider knives, the model 880, and Wala!
The last one was the Spirit of 1776 with Stag handles. I had been hanging onto a bunch of extra blades from that 1976 project and now was my chance to use some up. Only about 30 of the 50 we made had the correct sheath, the rest came without the sheath.

humm ...
i find it odd that no one has reported the fact that ..

3 dot was the LAST year of 440C ...

So for those that would make a user of the 3 dot 112 ram'y..
you will now know the magic Bos can work on 440C !!!

Well I scored a Elk to go with my Ram. Paul Bos heat treated 440c intrigues me to no end. I like those black LE boxes too. Don't ask why...I don't know.
