Hola,
I have a hunter with a ram's horn handle which I like very much, however it seems to give off an odor that I can't get rid of. I've tried washing it with ivory soap and water (and of course giving a bit of a mineral oil bath afterwards) and it doesn't get any better. Further, the smell comes off on your hands.
Is this typical for Ram's horn? I've not experienced it with buffalo horn, ivory or stag. Is there some way to seal it, perhaps? What would a clear polyurethane spar or something similar do to it?
Thanks,
Warren
