Thought I'd throw out some pics of some fun God let me have on spring break.
Ang and the Kids had other plans with siters/cousins, so I was free to hike/camp for a couple of days, hope you enjoy..

First off is a day trip to Ramsey Falls (Tennessee)...the 8 mile round trip almost kicked my out of shape butt..was definitely not in shape for that grade of trail, but the Condor held up well, water and goodies combined around 20 pounds..

Condor pic, next to my all time favorite work/travel bag:

Here's a view of the stream just about a mile into the hike:

Could not believe how green everything is compared to where I am in WV, like we are about three weeks behind the coming of spring up here..

Couple of huge oaks about 2 miles into the hike..biggest we saw was about 26 feet in diameter..

Had to string up the hammock for a quick break to see if it would work in the ENO photo contest (more on the hammock later):

Here's the coolest brother in-law on the planet chilling at the falls, who would have only probably stopped once on the way up, if not for yours truly who was sucking wind on a regular basis..

Here are Ramsey Falls..beautiful, but in my opinion, the great oaks easily rivalled them as far as my favorite part of the trip.

After the trip to the falls, headed back to Asheville..the next night Ang's sister had a party for the Girls..I took advantage of the situation and stayed outside, about 40 degrees during the night but I stayed toasty using my old military down bag which snugged nicely inside the ENO singlenest:
Only do-over I had, was wish I had bought the 10' by 10' tarp instead of the 6' by 10' from Ettowah..would have given a lot more coverage if would have had heavy rain..but I had a 5' by 8' ground tarp to throw over and rig if it would have looked like nasty weather..
Great little tarps by the way, and pack easily/take up very little space/weight.

The dogwoods above were almost luminary with the full moon shining behind them..

For this trip, The sebbie kept all the other knives in the pack, and performed great..

Hope you enjoy!

That's a great hike. I've done it several times over the years, mostly on spring break trips back in "the day". Since the falls and I share the same name, it was a must do. LOL.

I did that hike a long time ago in high school, while on family vacation. It's no joke for sure. Thanks for the great memories.

I used to live in Tennessee--and your post made me MISS THE HELL out of the hikes I used to take

Thanks Bro for the trip down memory lane

:)

awesome.. those oaks are pretty dang old. we have a few that big around here. not that tall but that wide if not wider. it took 3 people holding hands to hug that tree. good stuff man. i need to get back to the hillz before i go crazy

Thanks guys. Isn't it funny how just a pic the woods makes us wanna' get out there and play? I caught myself several times just stopping to enhale the scent of the Laurels. Can't wait for this weekend, hoping to take a day hike close by the casa back here in WV..Hope you all can get out too:-).

I enjoy pics of water more than anything else. They always make me hear water running, which soothes my mind. Thanks a ton.

Awesome pics man, looks like a great outing! 26 feet in diameter? That's one heck of a large tree!!
