I just came back from my trip to England, France and Italy and my parents said I could keep the money I didn't spend:). I have $200 on a visa but I want to save $150 for a shotgun when I get my permit. So that leaves me with $50 and I want a new EDC, i've been looking at the Ontario Rat 1 but I want your opinions:thumbup:

Buy shotshells

Addylo, Im not a big fan of spyderco I like a stud more than a hole (no homo) and the colors give me seizures. Leghog, yea those are getting expensive. Any other suggestions and I will bump it to $60:thumbup:

Do you have a BK9 yet? If not, get that! :D

I'd get the RAT and spend the other $20 on shells.......

So far I agree with everything Mountianmist has said:) Strong-Dog revolvers are restricted weapons in Newfoundland and probably not that good at shooting migratory birds in flight:p Blues Bender Im not worried about what anyone thinks but I need specific models. I dislike the spydercos because of the ovals cut into their blades for openers I prefer something that you can get a positive lock on (It sounds bad I know)

Haha, you're right about that. I had no idea about that restriction, bummer. If you don't like Spydercos, I can recommend a cheap Kershaw for under $50. They have many, and are pretty good quality.

Cold Steel Recon 1, or Recon 1 mini. You will NOT be disappointed.

If you like Kershaws there are a lot of them in that range. It's all in choosing the design you like. In that price range I think you might be able to find a Piston or a Knockout. I have had both of those Kershaws but I currently carry one of the recon ones every day. Mini for work, full size or XL for home. They're just great knives and an unbeatable value. The full size and the mini are both under $50. The XL is pushing $100.

Kershaw! I have the skyline and the OSO sweet in your budget, the skyline feels 'cheep', I refer the Oso sweet.....

Good luck! The KA-BAR Dozier folders are really great too.......

110% lol I'll look into kershaws knives but im loving the rat 1 atm hahah

Add $10 and go with a Spyderco Delica. Much more knife for the money.

I would beg to differ here.

What features does the Delica have that make it much more knife?

I realize this is an Endura next to the Rat1, but IMHO the only difference in the two knives are very marginal and trivial at best.

Rat 1, Endura

AUS-8, VG-10

5.0 ounce, 3.3 ounce

Full Flat Grind, Full Flat Grind

3.5" edge, 3.5" edge

4 way clip, 4 way clip

Liner Lock, Back Lock

$30, $60

Seems to me the real deal is the Rat 1.

Now if you wanna pit the Rat 1 against a Manix we are talking a whole new story.

I would agree. Nothing wrong with the Rat 1. It is a great deal. My wife carries the Rat 2 and loves it.

I was also considering a SAK as well, something like the trekker but even though that has more versatility I still the Rat 1 wins, does anyone know of Ontarios customer service or warranties? Becasue if I break off a Rat 1 im going to want a new one free of charge:D
