Just bought this, and I can't figure out exactly what it is. The blade measures 6 3/4" from tip to guard. It's carbon steel and is made of 3/16" stock. The sheath is stamped 7, and the blade profile looks like a 7, but, if so it's really long. The handle is dark brown micarta, but I wouldn't call it maroon. My guess is that it's a 7 with a bunch of options.

Anyone know what it is, and an approximate age?

The seven on the sheath stands for the blade length, not the pattern. In recent years they don't always specify the pattern on the sheath, and use them for multiple patterns to save money. That knife is much more robust than a 7 pattern. I am not looking them up but 1, 3,4, 5 patterns are much more like what you have. I would go with #1 without looking it up. There are images on their site which can be helpful.

Now that you mention it, it does look like a 1, but the 3/16" blade stock has me stumped.

It’s a Randall Model 1 – "All Purpose Fighting Knife" with 7 inch blade and the option of a "#22 handle with crow's beak butt cap." Appears to be from 1998-1999, based on the brown stitching. Because almost all Randall Made Knives have forged blades, the final steel thickness is always less than the starting thickness.

Interesting Model 1. Is the pommel nickel silver or duralumin? Nice knife in any case.
