Any experience with Randall # 10 “salt fisherman and household utility”? Is it worth the price or there’s something cheaper in the same blade length and thickness range, with a full tang construction?

Bear,

Unfortunately the "collector" market has driven the price of these ground from stock knives over the top. I've had two in years past when they sold for about $ 60. They are well made with a nice leather sheath. However, they are not spectacular.

If you want to have a Randall, go ahead. For the price you can get many other knives that are equal or superior. Matter of fact you can probably get two or three for the price of that #10.

If you like the other Randall's that are forged, and I certainly do, order one from the factory. Yes, it's a long wait but much better than paying collector prices for a user knife.

I use a 10-7 as a filet knife and it works fine.
most filet knives are garbage so, I would say the Randall is worth the extra money. The money you spend can always be recouped if you decide to sell it. This cannot be said for other knives in this catagory.

Also, I don't believe that it is a long wait on the model 10.
I think you can get those in 6 weeks. It is not the same wait as other Randall Made knives.

To be honest I have never used the Randall #10, but I have used other Randalls and many other knives and especially Grohmann knives. Looking at the model #10 and your requirements, I would suggest you save your money and check out Grohmann knives.. They are hand made, full tang with rational prices and in Canadian dollars.. So you could easly afford a few for the same price. You also have as much customization flexibility as well..

I own the rosewood kitchen set, a model #3 for hunting and a 7" fillet knife and they are all excellent knives with quality steel and handle material..
