Hello all, I have a Randall #14 sawteeth, Stainless, finger groove micarta handle that was supposed to have been made by the Late Randall Sr. Is there any way to document this? And also in excellent shape...never used what is the approximate value of this knife..it also has the oval thick brass handgaurd.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
Chris

The is no real way of finding out just who made it and it wouldn't have been one individual. They have around 20 employees, some are in the forging room, some are grinders, etc. You can be certain the Mr. Randall (Bo) didn't make that knife. While he was always in the shop tinkering, he wasn't "hands on" in knife making for many years prior to the Model 14's introduction.

I bought a Model #18 in a shop in Monterey California some years ago. The shop owner was selling it on consignment. He indicated Bo Randall made it because the owner had a document indicating such. I told him I would take the knife on condition that he got the document. A month later, with no word from the shop, I called and was told the owner of the knife had a document but it didn't "actually" say Bo made the knife so no proof would be forthcoming. I sent the knife back. There was nothing unique about that #18 in 1995. To paraphrase a comment once said about fine art, "Of the 5,000 knives that Bo Randall made, 50,000 of them are still sitting in collections."

Thanks for the responses guys...I had thought as much.
So is there anyway to llok up how old it might be...and also what value it might have?

Maybe I can take a few pics and email them to an "expert" on site?

any help would be great.

Chris
