Has anybody heard or seen seperating the blade from the handle from the Mod.18?
Thanks for help.

This question has come up before.

It is fairly rare. No knife is completely idiot proof, but, you are going to have to work very hard to separate the handle from the blade on a model 18. It is more likely that you will snap the blade at one of the sawback serrations.

The reputation for hollow handle blade separation seems to be based almost exclusively on the performance of the many low end "survival knives" inported druing the 1980s. You seldom hear about this happening with the higher end production knives or most custom knives.

Cold steel once ran an ad in which they destroyed a Buck Buckmaster. It had a picture of a Buckmaster with the blade snapped into 5 or six pieces. They had used everything from a hammer to a vise and length of pipe to break the knife. Yet, after all of the damage, the blade and handle junction was still 100% there.

The weakness of the blade handle junction is very much over hyped. If the joint is put together well it will not be the weak link in the knife, and the model 18 is very solid.
