A person by the name of Peter Stebbins owned a small shop, called The BearCamp Sportshop in New Hamsphire, in 1977. In 1982, after ordering/selling some RMK from Doug Kenefick, Stebbins wanted a knife for outdoors, that would be for the civilian outdoorsman, not a military knife.

Stebbins called Kenefick and designed/ordered a model 5, with the features you find on a "Bear Camp Special". The first Bear Camp was delivered in June 1982 and cost $240.00.

Stebbins left NH and moved to Massachusetts in 1984. He continued to sell BC Specials for while. I don't have an exact figure but I believe there were less than 50 Bear Camp Specials made.

Great knife IMO. One of the best looking, most functional RMK.

Thank You! That is exactly the information that I was looking for.

Agreed. That said, yours is a pre-1995 made knife. Very cool too; thanks for the share...
