All,

I am relatively new to the forum, so please excuse any etiquette mistakes. I really enjoy this site. My compliments to all who developed and maintain it.

I have an older Randall Bird & Trout that has been sitting around for about 8 years. It is is very good condition. I don't believe it has ever been sharpened, but there are some minor scratches on the blade.

Was wondering what something like this is worth? I would like to sell it, or trade for a William Henry.

By the way, my EDC is a Spyderco Native. Couple tours in Iraq and it perfomed exceptionally well.

Thanks in advance for the gouge.

I really like the Bird and Trout. Personnally I do not think you should sell, you will regret and will be hard to get a replacement. This is the knife that Gary Powers had on him when he was shot down in his U2 over Russia in 1962.

Had one of my team mates carry a Bird and Trout strapped to his body armor during our time together in Iraq. A tough little knife, served him well, and some real history to it.

On my list!

Macksween1, first off, welcome to the Randall Knive forum at BFC. :)

As leopardprey said, they're a tough little knife, and at times can be hard to replace. But, if you're dead set on selling it, tell me via email what you need to get out of it, to get into a Willaim Henry, and maybe we can strike a deal...

Gentlemen,

Thanks for your responses. I apologize for not getting back to you both earlier, but I just got back from hunting.

Shel,

I will you e-mail to let you know what I am thinking.

Leopardprey,

Thanks for you comments, and more importantly, your service to our country. I have done a few tours in your next of the world myself.

Semper Fidelis,

Mike

Mack, where were you at? First time (2004) was I was based out of NAjaf and traveled all around the |Central Part (al Kut, Karbala, Najaf, Diwaniya, Tikrti, Babylon, etc..). Next time (2006) was based out of Camp Victory but managed and traveled to site as far north as Tal Afar area and west to Al Asad and again all over the Central AO.

I was over in 2003 for OIF I. Started in Kuwait and ended up at Baghdad International. Went back in 2005 to Fallujah, and then back to Fallujah again in 2006. Got home last March. Spent most my time in Anbar. I think I made it to every FOB out there.

Not sure where we are headed next. I am not going anywhere until June, but who knows after that.

S/F,

Mack

I have one of the smaller bird/trout blades, it is dear to me. I'd suggest holding on to it as such a knife would be near impossible to replace unless you've got a tub load of cash.

Stubai,

I think you are right. I have done some additional research on the knife and now realize that it would be a great knife to hand-down to my son one day.

I wish I had a tub load of cash, but that is not the case.

Thanks for your comments.

S/F,

MACK
